Im 11b, was offered tonight to take intelligence school

Question

i have bad typing first off, but tonight i was approached by my platoon leader and asked me if i would like to go to a school and be an intelligence guy, works with officers, platoon leaders, s2, etc. and still be 11b and in the action, all he told me we had lil bit of time is that im the guy that i dunno... just 1 on everything

anyone have personal experience with this type of job?

ive been here like 2-3 weeks and ive already been sent to 2 schools with another 2 scheduled. lol i turn e2 next week to, so im gettin a lot of stuff and my friends have been here for like 2-3months and havnt even gone to 1 school

Are you brand new in the Army and in the middle of your AIT or already in your unit?

Well if you are getting to do something like that and you have only gotten to Alaska and they are picking you over anyone else then there is a reason.  I would agree with everyone else here.  Go for it, worst case scenario is that you didn't like it for a little while and you can still carrying weapons and kick in doors.  This type of training is hard to come by for most soldiers and you should definitely take advantage of it.

Welcome to alaska, i'm up here too (albeit i'm farther north at wainwright)

I would say take it, intel rocks on the outside world job wise (I'm through and through intel) and a lot of 11B actually reclass intel so I know they can do it.

Although is your unit deploying in the fall?  Would that delay your deployment? That could actually be the reason for your schooling too, that your unit needs another intel guy before they deploy

Okay young troop, what is the name of the intell school? This might help. Any take whatever they get you for now. Okay? Can't help if you getting selected. Just make sure you don't stay of the line too long otherwise your skills will rot and you will suck the day you go back to a regular squad.

It isn't a radical change...you are still 11B.  You just work in the slot for a while and learn some new stuff.

Embrace the unknown.  It might take you places you never knew you could go.

This is b.s.  There is no way you have been through 11b training and airborn school and are still a PV2.

There is also no way you have been in Alaska for 2-3 weeks and have already been to 2 different schools and scheduled for two more unless they are the short familirization classes that are common at most military bases

You also state the you have just come off a long ftx, but you have only been there for those 2-3 weeks?  Just how long was the ftx?  Couldn't have been too long for you, only being there a couple of weeks.
