  1. I'm not much of a fan of sport karate, which has little to do with street defense. Most schools, however, seem to lead people into the "sport" aspect of the art. Is it full contact?

  2. oh goodness.  you might want to start training hard now. ask your instructor for ways you can train. you might want to start going to world championships to learn what they do.

  3. Haha I'm 13 and a green belt too in tkd. i want to the olympics too. You should do TKD and in supplement do push ups, I took wrestling which was very intense at schiool. I tolerated pain and stuff, you should take wrestling and jog 3 miles each day. and do handweights too

  4. it might be hard to get in at 2016, unless you work hard. But DO NOT give up your goal, you may not make it by 2016, but mabye 2020.

  5. yes but just get the blackbelt first which if u keep practicing wil hapen

  6. idk

  7. You have to be going to a WTF (World Tae Kwon Do Federation) school.  You will need to be a black belt and you will need to attend major national tournaments and camps and be successful in these.

This is the USA Tae Kwon Do website.  These tournaments require travel and full time dedication to competition.

You will need to talk with your instructor about this and make sure your school is registered:  http://www.usa-taekwondo.us/

    Good luck!

  8. Realize 2 things (forget what others are telling you here... I've actually researched the topic)...

    1) Your country has a maximum of 4 slots.  Not four slots per weight class, not even one per weight class, not even 4 per gender.  Just 4 slots.

    2) The qualification process takes about 4 years.  So, forget others telling you to try for London in 2012.

Yes, the others are correct in saying you need to be a Black Belt, but there is no reason you won't be Black Belt by 2016.  If you wait until Black to start trying to qualify, you can kiss your chances goodbye.

Go for it.  Look at the WTF website to get a link to the national organization for your area (the USTU in America).  You'll have to become a member of that organization and compete in their tournament circuit.  With hard work and good coaching, I'll look forward to having my student(s) compete against you in 2016 :)

  9. Just keep training. As long as you're representing Team USA then you have my support.

  10. No, you would need to be a black belt, but try it, proove me wrong,

  11. You need to be effing good. Especially for taekwondo. Some of the olympic sports arent that hard to get into like sculls and archery, but id say gymnastics and taekwondo are the hardest overall. Your chances are slim but if you think you can do it than go for it!! If somoene tells you u have to be a black belt, dont listen to them. In 2000 there was a orange belt that went! Id say that by 2016 your gonna be a black belt though so go for it.

  12. If its your true dream tht comes from the bottom of your heart then yes maybe you will!

  13. im 13 and i am black belt, and u have got no chance. youre only green belt. you still gotta do blue tag, blue belt, red tag, red belt, black tag, black belt. and with 3 months in between every one. you are gonna struggle. give up on going to the olympics. it wont happen

  14. why not go for 2012? seriously.

  15. yeah if your talented enough. copy ehsan shafiqs style of kicking and you will win. he is a uk champ for 2007 and fights in tkd karate kickboxing tournaments and wins. 5 time champ i believe. claims his style is kung fu tho.. he doesn't punch that often but he knows kicks are worth more and he proves hes very good at kicking people in the head lol

look him up on youtube: Ehsan Shafiq

  16. You have to be really really good, and mentioned by a lot of people. Lots of training and perseverance. Good luck in your goal.

  17. you could go to 2012 olympics but most of the competitor's are black belts so get to black belt and try to enter then
