I want to improve, but my mum and dad are so busy they don't have time to take me to clubs and stuff but they suggested training at home. I don't mind not joining a club but does anyone have tips to improve?

100m - 14.2s

200m - 29.36s

  1. Yeah they are slightly above average! Try training if you like to sprint and then you should get reallllllly gooD! x*x

    good luk <3

  2. it ok...but u can do bettr...

    run a 400 2 get warmed up...

    then run a few 100's...

take a few minutes inbetween 2 relax...

then do da same for a few 200's

    good luck!

  3. Your times are really good! This was my first year of track, I'm 13, and my times are pretty much even with yours. I bet if you trained, you would be even better

    Good Luck

  4. they are very good times

    my times

    200m-25.49

    100m-12.4

you should try and persuade your parents to take you to a club .

  5. Your times are great. Interval training is a great way to increase your speed. You can either go to your school track or run around your neighborhood. Make your total run around two miles, and during that run continuously alternate from a brisk pace and a sprint. Try it a few times until you get the feel for it. I like running around the neighborhood because it adds a lot of variety. I also think the best way to build your speed is through weight training and sprinting up hills. All you need to do is find a hill near you without a lot of traffic, 25+m. Sprint up the hill and then walk back down to recover. Continue doing this until exhaustion and you will greatly increase your strength and speed.

  6. Pretty mediocre. You could probably get much better if you sat down and trained.

  7. Hey...Thats great. You seem to have a real gift for the 200m. Try this for a workout.

4X "flying" 50's (as fast as you can go)

    4X100m, 1 minute in between

    1 400m with all you've got left.

rest about 4 minutes in between sets and don't forget to stretch before. The 50s and 100ms will give you speed and the 400 will give you endurance.

Good luck with your running! :D

  8. well i remember that when i had to do the presidents physical fitness tests (im 13 by the way) and we were doing the 50m dash, they said that exceeds was like 7.something seconds so that is actually good i think. im not sure how to really train tho, just keep running and running and running i guess

  9. Yeah, those times are actually really good for only being 14.  I ran track in high school, and I was running the 100 in about 10 or 11 seconds and the 200 in about 24/25 (these really weren't my races though)  I ran the 400, and what I did was run longer distances to build up my endurance a bit.  You can actually do this for the shorter races.  When you run them, add an extra 50 meters or so, that way you're pushing yourself just a little bit further (building your endurance).  I also suggest weight training.  You can go out and get a couple of hand weights that weigh a pound or two, and that way you're pumping your arms harder, which can make a couple seconds different.  Oh yeah, one more thing, to shave a few seconds off you're time, you can also work on your starts.  That can make or break you in a race.  And since you aren't going to a club or anything, just run around your neighborhood, the uneven ground will help strengthen your legs.  What I suggest you do is run a couple miles and switch between sprinting and jogging.  I hope all this helps, I know it did for me.
