I haven't been able to sleep well for a while (1-2 years) but this week has been the worst so far!! i'm finding myself really depressed and worried but i don't know why :S. I get frustrated when i try to sleep and always moving around because i can't get comfortable and if i wake up in the night i won't get back to sleep again. I get really worried over nothing. And in the morning im soo tired and irratable (sp?) like cant relax and feel stressed and angry and upset. I'm going to the doctors on friday but im really nervous!! My mum and dad both have thyroid problems, my dad thinks i have it too, but i don't have the symtoms of thyroid problem. i have all the symptoms of teenage depression but i dont know whats started this. im hoping i have got thyroid problems though to i can get a tablet and be okay !! But if its teenage depression i dont know what im going to do. Plus i've just started chaging my eating habbits ! im now eating healthy and exercising on a daily basis could this be something to do with it? :( Btw, im on my holidays an im still worrying about school. help!?

  2. means ur growing

    or ask your local Doctor.

  3. People only dfeel the need to change when they are genuinely unhappy with the way something is and because you have chose to change your diet and exercise regime, im guessing your unhappy with your weight / the way you look.

You need get over your confidence problem and the rest will follow. The sleepless nights are due to worry. You may not even realise when you are in your bed that your worrying about it, but the mind will always be restless because of it until you learn to accept yourself for who you are.

Stop worrying about yourself and realise that everyone is beautiful in their own way. You don't have to look / walk / talk like anyone else and guys only like girls who have a personality. The body comes second.

Go out there wiith a positive attitude, find a guy whos interested in you, and build up your confidence. Don't take pills / medicines to assist with sleep as these arent good for you, just find a way to dewal with oyur issues.

  4. Thats the same reason im up right now. heres something ive tried that works. Stay up for an entire night so that you will be so tired when its time to go to sleep the next day. Its simple but its worked for me.

  5. Choice 1: You could visit a phychology counselor...he/she would ask u questions related to what is exactly making u feel depressed and may help u out.

Choice 2: Confide and talk to your BEST firend or someone very close, if u got one.

Choice 3: Take a piece of aper and pen and write down everything thatmakes u feel depressed or sad....in the beginnning u may not find any answers at all..but keep trying..they will start to flow.

    Good Luck!!

  6. Im the same, this is a form of depression because its what i used to get not being able to sleep then worrying about school and which i dont care about school so i thought that was weird, and then now about 6 months on i see a psychiatrist every week or sometimes every other week, and this all happened when i went to the doctors, but its ok.they do help but the only thing that really makes me annoyed with is when you have to wait so long to get a reply for when you can see the psychiatrist.and its good your mum and dad noticed something was not right, where my mum didnt notice until a year lol and its just got worse.

  8. Sorry hon.  Worry/anxiety + lack of sleep = perpetual cycle of insomnia.  All of the experts agree that creating a sleep schedule and habits around your sleep pattern is one of the greatest tools you can have under your belt.  Take a warm bath and read for 15 minutes from you favorite book or magazine.  Try to only use your bedroom especially the bed for rest.  Also, go to bed at a set time.  Your internal clock is powerful.  Go through your schedule and see if there is too much on your plate...e.g. sports + school + whatever else.  Or you may not be active enough.  The diet and exercise will help some.  If you have a thyroid problem, you should be experiencing other symptoms like night sweats.  But it's great that you are getting that checked out.  If it turns out to be depression...take it very seriously, take the prescribed meds, and meet with a councilor regularly to discuss both positive and negative changes since the start of meds.  Neither outcome is the end of the world.  Accept what you cannot change, and give the rest your best shot.

  9. insomnia can be an effect of stress and depression. its like what i had. once my depression and stress levels got better so did my sleep. im sorry i cant help you much, here are some tips though

    - no caffeine, if you need it dont have it after mid-arvo

    - chamomile tea before bed

    - herbal over the counter sleeping pills

    - a walk before bed, it will make you tired

    good luck
