Im 14 and i just started running, I RUN 5 KM in around 23 min is tat good or bad or what?

my first five k i ever did was 19:50 at the age of 12, now like four months later my fastest time is 19:08(at age 13 then) it was my first season of running, but most of the people who get like second or third come in at 21 or 22. but your first two minutes won't be hard at all to shave off, you can do that anybody can, just keep training and do cross country and track talk to your coaches they can help for your training.

That's about a 7:24 pace.  I would say pretty good for a 14 year old who just started running.  Keep training and your times will go down.

My times are about the same and they are average.  I just started and haven't had any training so keep at it.  You will get better and start to enjoy it.  I have!

23 minutes is pretty good for your age. That is about what pace I was running(I am a girl), but it will get easier to shave off the time once you start training more. You might be able to shave 2 or more minutes even. You just have to get past that mental block in your head. Good Luck!

Welcome to running.

For a first effort 23 minutes for 5K at your age is very good!

If you go to a 5K in your hometown I'll bet that 23 minutes will beat more than 50% of the adults in the race. Not bad at all.

If you can, join the cross country team at your school or find a knowledgeable adult runner/coach to help you. There are plenty of mistakes they can help you avoid.

The fact that you got on-line and ask this question tells me that you want to learn and improve. Your enthusiasm for improvement will be more important than any other factor.

To be honest that is probably about average for a cc runner your age.  Keep working and before you know it your 5 K time will be under 20 minutes.
