i heard there a child labor laws preventing me from working full time.

im going to be homeschooled,

and my father had an accident preventing me from getting child support intill he get money from his job since it ws a work related accident. but even when he does get that money, chances are, i wont get a dime of it because im not really his favorite daughter.

well my question is where can i work,

will mcdonalds hire me,

does anyone ACTUALLY know ?

because i figure nobody in there can even speak english half the time, i think even if i am 14 they'll hire me.

& what are the rules with piercings and tattoos ?

ive got my cheeks pireced and a few tattoos that are coverable, is that gonna matter ? can i just wear a retainer for my piercings or do i have to completely take them out ?

&, to have an interveiw, am i going to have to actually meet someone?

oh, and if i dress really nice for the interveiw and then start dressing my usual scene/punk style, can they fire me for that ?

help?

  1. I'm a 17 year old living in Portland and I can tell you, getting a job at 14 at most retail centers is going to be very difficult (if possible) Even though many people at Mcdonalds don't speak english, that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of competition for those jobs, and they're are all going to be 18 or older making them significantly more hireable, the job market in Portland is fierce right now (like much of the country) I'd look into local stores that might need extra help in stocking or dishwashing at restaurants. And if that doesn't work,  try looking for babysitting jobs, I know 14 and 15 year olds who build up enough of a client base to make a good amount of money in it. And the fact that you're home schooled means that your schedule can be molded around babysitting jobs, (a big plus)

  2. Im not familiar with Oregon, but many times you are able to recieve a work permit even if you are under the child labor law age.

What you want to do is look into finding the permit and see what it takes to get that done.

Mcdonalds is going to make you take out your facial piercings and keep your hair back as well.  It won't matter what your normal dress is because you will be wearing the uniform during your working hours anyways.

What I would suggest to you is to get a local paper and go to the "Help Wanted" section.

What you will find is many jobs that might fit what you are looking for better.  Car Washes, Pet Sitting, Envelope Stuffing etc. etc.  Many times you can get in with a local person and keep a job for a long time and get paid cash.

Hopefully you find what you are looking for!
