  1. Wow, that's a pretty big decision. I also think you should wait some time before you choose to do that. You have to be devoted to be a doctor and never give up on your work. So you should see how far you can go because just wanting to be something dosnt make you a certain title. You have to work hard for it.

  2. why don't you wait a few more years before you make such a big decision?

  3. your 14, too young to worry about this stuff, wait another 3 to 4 years and if you still want to do it then go for it

  4. Its your life. Its okay to take opinions, but don't let someone tell you want to do for life. If you want to become a Marine, go for it. If your mom is going to have to get over it because its your call in the end and not her's.

  5. ummm...if a medical career field is what you're seeking, usually the Marines will bring along a Navy medic.

  6. yea, you could die, you could die anywhere, you are more likely to die in detroit michigan than IRAQ.So if you really want to do this, do it. I would suggest the ARMY butt that's your decision. I know your mom loves you and such butt life goes on and she wont be there to hold your hand the rest of your life. Tell your mom to quit being a drama queen and let you live your life, she is just having trouble letting you grow up. You cannot enlist until you are 17 and that's with parent consent so you have a few years butt I would talk to a recruiter , and  wait until you are 17.

  7. If you resort to the Corp because you didn't make med-school, does that mean you are looking at becoming a Corpsman?  If so, it sounds like you are still following your medical ambitions along a different path.  If you just picked Marine Corp out of the blue, you should really consider the reasons and weigh such a decision.  The Marine Corp is serious business and they don't appreciate people enlisting just for the heck of it.  However, the Corp WILL instill discipline into your spirit and steel into your body no matter how they decide to use you.

Your mom's suicide threat is just the typical dramatic reaction of a  loving mother to something that provokes a strong feeling with little actual thought behind it.  Your mom sees and hears ugly things on the news and assumes that is how every Marine has it.  It is simply not true.  My mom didn't want me to take Shaolin lessons because she'd seen parts of some Chinese Kung Fu movies!
