I don't know much about this.

Im good in English and science(stars, space, travel, earth,) That kinda science

I'd also like to become a Art teacher..if thats even possible. One of those I'd like to be.

Now I've heard alot about how Teachers are under paid and dis respected and what not..but starting out I would make like 30 grand a year right?

Is being a teacher worth my time, would I like it.,and how much is the salary?

I've looked it up on the net it says like 60 grand after working 15 yrs,but I wanna know how much I'd make starting off. Also I would have to go to college and a University right?Do I need really good grades? Is it hard? Thanks much appreciated =]

  1. College is necessary and a graduate degree is the only way to get a decent amount of money. You would likely get a four year degree in the subject of your choice, and then a Master's degree in education. You should try to get good grades to get into college, as is always the case.

  2. You'll need four years of high school and five years of college to be an Art teacher. Make sure you take difficult classes like Chemistry and Trigonometry in high school. And do well in high school and college. Most education programs do not accept less than a 3.0 GPA. Nine years from now, you should start off making close to $60,000 a year as a teacher. Now in VA, the salary ranges from$32,000-$41,000 depending on what division you want to teach in.

  3. Hi Hannah,

First off I wanna say I think it's awesome that you are so young and know what you want to do.  I am a new teacher in New York City and I think I can offer some advice.  First, It is true teachers don't make much but that changes depending on where you decide to teach.  For example here in NYC teachers start out at 45,000 with a bachelor degree and 52,000 with a Masters.Your income goes up yearly with the amount of time you spend teaching and the credits you have.  But generally you have to really want to teach and not be in it for the money.  If you have decided that this is something you want to do you can start exploring you options now.  There are programs some high schools offer that give students Teacher assistant positions.  Again, I think you rock for knowing what you want already.  Good Luck!!

  4. This may seem like a stupid answer, but if you want a unique approach to problems, I highly suggest you watch the anime, live action drama, or movie of Great Teacher Onizuka.

They'll give you a way to teach lifelessons in school

  5. You sound so excited about teaching!  That's great!  We need more enthusiastic new teachers.  Yes, we are underpaid, overworked, etc, so don't get into the profession for the $$.  Starting pay is in the $30s, but consider that the Middle Class is considered to be $40K-$250K.  I have been teaching for 18 years (high school) and I work a second job at a college (4 years).  With both jobs, I gross $50K.  That's before taxes, insurance, retirement, etc.  Plus, you'll use your own money to but many school supplies.  In my state (NY), you need to get a Masters Degree.  That means a 4 year undergrad degree and 2-4 years in grad school.  It's time consuming and expensive.  Then you have to take state teacher exams.  Just so you know what's ahead of you!
