  1. Swim laps lots and for me when I was doing my lifeguard course I was very weak, so if you are weak lift weights and get your arms stronger as well

  2. I would just practice the required laps (those were always the hardest for me) and whatever might be required of you... i don't know what this might be as lifeguarding for a pool is different than a lake which is different for the ocean...

so i would just check to see what tasks you would have to preform for your certification and mix in some extra cardio and strength training...

  3. well obviously you have to be able to swim the required distance, and i think you have to hold your breath for a certain period of time, so practice those. do alot of running and push ups, pull ups, crunches/sit ups.

  4. It depends on if you will be doing ocean lifeguarding or pool lifeguarding. I will assume you will be a lifeguard at the beach   beacuse pool lifeguards don't have to be in very good shape.

    1. Swim alot.... like everyday

    2. Also make sure you are constantly swimming long distances in the ocean- with a buddy , no alone

    3. Do lots of running on the sand it is alot harder

    4. Work on your push ups and sit ups

Hope this helps and good luck
