  1. Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

  2. there is this new medication that has about 50% success and i think it is called chantix to help people quit smoking, also there is a combination of  alternative medication that have about an 80% effectiveness...however to get a hold of those you probably have to get a prescription and your parents will find out which you may or may not want. if you can't get access to these i would look for some online support sites and try cold turkey

    best of luck!

  3. i am also 15, and i have been smoking since i was 12 as well. (strange) i still smoke, but i cut back when i was 14 because a lot of **** just blew up about it. what i did was i got rid of every thing i had that involved smoking, and you might have heard that gum helps a lot. but trust me; it does. every time you feel the need to smoke, whip out a pack of gum and chew a piece. it'll keep your body occupied and in a way distracted from the temptation for smoking.

i don't know if that helps...

or if it'll work for you; but if not- sorry man : /

  4. I'd tell your parents, and ask them to help you. They might be mad at you, but a little strife now will lead to no emphysema later on in life.

  5. tell your doctor or buy some nicorette gum, then picture how you mom and family will feel if you dont stop and they have to watch you die from cancer

  6. That's a real problem because for some reason some of the stop smoking medications don't seem to work in teenagers. So the first thing I'd suggest is that you speak to your doctor about it and see if there is someting he can find that will work in your case -- Chantix, say, or Wellbutrin, which are both prescription meds. (Chantix is the most effective med for adults, just not sure if it works for kids.) Another thing you might consider trying is hypnosis -- it does work for a lot of people. If none of that works I'm not sure what to suggest, except that I couldn't stop smoking at your age either but as an adult was able to do it with the meds (Commit lozenges and Chantix). One thing that helps I'm afraid is being old enough to have to worry about the health effects. I've had two friends die of heart attacks in the last year, and that definitely makes it less likely that I'll give into temptaton and backslide . . .

  7. Get your friends and family to encourage you to stop.

I've also compiled a playlist of quit smoking videos that might help that includes quite shocking ads.

  8. whoa for 3 yrs? well best way is that if u have a cig just crush it n trash that **** my uncle drinks like pop or candy to ya know replace it so guess that would work, but usually smokers smoke when their stressed, so when ur stressed or feel like smoking try taking up some martial art to get ur mind off things, i know it may sound hard since when my uncle tries to do this he is like rlly out of breath but with patience n time ull get in this habit-n talk 2 ur doc he may know some better advice then anyone here can give

  9. Smoke some pot

Nicotine gum doesn't work, it just substitutes one nicotine habit for another, thats not really getting over an addiction. Just stop cold turkey... or smoke some pot.

  10. omg are u serious

how in the world could your parents let a 12 year old smoke

    listen, just STOP SMOKING

    stop buying the cigarettes

    stop lighting them up

addiction is all in your head

and its not bs, i used to smoke, and i JUST STOPPED because i decided i did not want to smoke anymore.

  11. you been smoking since you were twelve so sad get some help buddy   please
