I`m 15 can i travel on by own by rail?

:/ question says it all! Is there an age limit e.g must be over 15... and do i pay childs fares? Thanks :] x

  1. No it doesn't, you have to tell us the country and if you want to go long distances or on a commuter line.

    On Amtrak (US long distance travel) you are OK, you do have to pay adult fares. Even 8-14 year olds can travel under certain conditions.

    Commuter lines all have their own regulations, and you have to contact them.


  2. Hi there Yes you can travel on your own on the train, but it is totally up to your parents if they feel that you will be safe.

    The second part of the answer is yes you can pay a child ticket, but you may have to prove that you are 15 years old as you might look a little older. Once you are sixteen then you will have to pay and adult fare, but you can then also buy a Young Persons Rail card here in the UK and the you get 1/3 off the price.

    Ignor the other answer as I do not think that it relates to the UK
