i've been riding honda four strokes since i was a little 5 year old girl ahah. I started on a little 50 and now have a crf150f dirt bike. i've always been interestes in racing but some how have never tried it, which i know was probably a mistake. but now i'd like to seriously try it out. i have like 100 acres of land that me and my brother and sister ride on, but both of them never go out in the woods, whoops, etc. its most the open field and a few hills for them. honestly i think thats no fun haha, besides the jumps, but even then theyre not even that big. i feel im comfortable with it, and i ride fast in the woods. i can keep up with my cousin who's got a crf230f, but i realize that this late in the game there could be 12 year olds better than i am and really dont want to fail in the only thing i have ever really been good at. (i tried softball in school...definite NOT haha) but id really like some pointers on how to seriosuly get into racing and how to seriously get good. thanks.

  1. go for it!!!! you will need a better bike. my daughter has been riding since age 8 and racing off and on for a few years now.  she will turn 13 soon and currently racer the 150R..... the real winner in the race is the one who had the most fun.... good luck

  2. never to late kid, my son started last year, he's 17 they set you up according to riding skills, class d, c,b,a, he's on a kx250, very good bike has more power then he'll ever use, Lots of riders have gone to 4-strokes, easier to ride, but more expensive to fix when they break, Dont really know yer location, so have no idea whats avail, to you, we're on the east coast, where my son ran in the ultra/mega series, The big secret is to attend as many races as you can to get points throughout the season, Good luck and becareful out there

  3. Well it's pretty simple to get started and 15 is not too old to start so don't trip about that. Racing is about having fun, don't get too caught up how you will place to start with. First you need a track that holds open practice to hone your skills. Spend a while just learning to ride on a track before trying your first race. Next you just need the proper bike. I think the CRF150R would be perfect depending on your height. Go to your local Honda shop and sit on these 3 bikes. CRF150R Standard (w/ 14" rear wheel), CRF150R Expert (w/16" rear wheel), and a CRF250R, unless it is just obviously too big. Good luck and have fun!!

  4. You need to see if there is any racing near your house.  If so go watch some races and you will see if there is an amateur racing going on.  I would think that you aren't the only 15 yo girl that wants to do this.  The way to get better is by practicing.  If you can make a track at your place and practice the corners and jumps.  Good luck.  Check the links below they are for motocross and amateur motocross.

  5. The other answerer is giving good advice stating that you should look up the local clubs in your area and go along for a look see.  The bike you have is not suitable to race and if you wanted a similar bike you would need to go to the Crf150r as this is the race version.

You should investigate if there are any girls races that you could enter in and what classes are available to girls as I know mainstream racing when you turn 16 you are not able to race the mini section and would need a 125cc or 250cc.  What bike you get to race will depend upon when you are turning 16 as there is no point getting a bike that you cannot race once you are that age.

The best place to get all the information you need is from the people in your local area and club.

    Have fun!

  6. Don't let your age discourage you. I didn't even start riding until recently (and I'm 17). Even if you have dreams of going pro, it doesn't mean you have to be one of those kids who's raced since they could walk.  Your biggest help to you racing is your mental game. You need to motivate yourself, your need to pump yourself up and you need to surround yourself with people who will support you and push you to go as hard as you can go. From there you need to get out at your local track and get to know all the odds and ends of it, practice your technique and try to find some people who know how to race who can teach you about how to get good speed into turns, how to put momentum into jumps, etc. Just get out at your track and ride ride ride as much as you can. Once you seriously think you're ready to race, go for it. There are beginner classes with people just like you. Then you just need to race, the more you race the more you will begin to understand the way things go and it will mold you into a better racer. Have high goals, but don't expect to place 1st in your very 1st race, you do need to be reasonable. I suggest checking out ama-cycle.org for local tracks and races and transworldmotocross.com my personal favorite racing site. They also have a lot of how-to articles. I'd definately consider getting a subscription and to start familiarizing yourself with the world of MX. Getting to know top riders (Like Stewart and Villopoto) and there are also some great female riders out there. Hope this helps!
