I'm from Washington (state) and after I completed 8th grade I stopped going to school, can I get my GED already? I have heard that you need to ask your school counselor but my cousin says since I never went to High School I don't need to talk to her so I'm confused. Some other people I have talked to said if I went to the counselor at my local high school they would make me go to school because I'm still too young.

  1. im thinking because of your age you'd go to normal high school. Its better anyway because a ged is not the same thing.

Any person age 16 through 18 years of age who has completed a program of home -based instruction in compliance with RCW 28A.225.010 (4) as certified by the written an notarized statement of the parent(s) or guardian(s) who provided the home-based instruction; or

  3. Sure you can. I think you need a parents approval but go to your local board of education office to find out more. Some newspapers also have ads in the want ads about locations where you can take the ged classes. You can also look it up online specific to your area.

Also they cannot make you go to regular high school if you have your parents permission to take you out of school since you're 16.

  4. I doubt it. You'd probably have to go back to regular school.

    What are you waiting for?

  5. yea, they would make you go to school.

  6. I'd go to the library and check it out.

  7. Yes you can get your GED. Research some online about how to acquire it [[ I know you have to take a test ]].

  8. Yes. You don't have to ask anyone to take the GED exams. I quit at 17 and joined the Army. I took all 5 tests in one day and passed.  Then I went and graduated from college. Go prepared as it isn't as easy as you might think.

I'd recommend buying a used GED Practice Exams book from Amazon.com or from your local used book store.
