Whenever I am playing sports, I have to wear glasses and my doctor advised me not to get contacts because then can further damage my eyes. I can't give my best performance in sports becuz of my glasses...I am also sometimes scared of the ball because it might hit my glasses. so...

Is there any help for curing far sight vision? (My eye doctor said no but I dont want to believe him)...

  1. Until you are able to get corrective surgery, which is your only possible other option, consider a specific sport glass. Go to libertyoptical.com. They have a variety of frames, called Rec Specs, for sports with straps and cushioned bridges. This way you won't risk damaging your good glasses and these will withstand a hit to the face better. It will also have a list of dealers you can get them from with your zip code. Depending on the type of sport, like baseball, contacts won't protect your eye socket from damage. Pro's and con's to both. Have you noticed the glasses some major league pitchers are now wearing?

  2. I'm afraid your Dr.s right.

If there was a way...everyone would have done it and you would know about it too.

Contacts further damaging your eyes doesn't sound right though. There must be more to it than that.

  3. I agree with Footprints - again.  And generally, contacts are preferred for people who play sports.  I've never heard of an eye doctor recommending against contacts because they can "further damage your eyes" and as footprints said, there must be another reason why.

  4. There are new contact lenses that you wear at night that can reshape your cornea and correct your vision while you sleep. You take the lenses out in the morning. They are called Dreamlens.
