  1. Yes, I think they should let you.  You are plenty old enough to make this decision and it should truly be yours to make.

While I think there are many benefits to homeschooling, it shouldn't be done against the will of the child.  Same as kids shouldn't be forced to go to school.  Kids need more respect in our society.

    Good luck :)

  2. Are there other schools in the area you could attend?

    Private or church schools?

Could your family move to a better school district?

Can you do well in the school that they think isn't any good?

    All options.

  3. I think the question you need to approach with them is *why* you want to go to school.  Is it because of a program (sports, drama, etc.) that isn't available anywhere else in your community?  You may have a good point that they need to evaluate.  Is the school mediocre or dangerous, and they really have your best interest at heart?  In the end, it's their choice, and you need to trust them on it.

What is it that you think will be so much better about school?  You may be right, but you may be very wrong.  It's your parents' job to help you make wise decisions, and this is a big one.

So, if you're truly convinced that you have a great reason for wanting to go, present it to them.  Do your research, make a pros and cons list, and present them with some options.

If you want to go *only* because you think the social scene will be better, and they won't allow you to, find some other social outlets in your community.  Join a homeschool group, get involved in something that interests you, hang out with your friends after school.  As a homeschooler, your schedule is your own.  Make the most of it!

  4. Find things that a school offers that you can't get from home... such as sports teams, band, social interaction; things that your parents can't teach you.  Good luck!

  5. Tell them you only got one life to live, and you don't want to waste it....

Life's way to short not to have fun and experience life....

Just talk to them about your problems with being homeschooled....

And if they still don't let you....

You only have 2 more years till you can do whatever you want....

But you didn't get to do what you want, but let me tell you, that's one of the worst lessons in life is, you really never get to do what you want....I mean who wants to get up early in the morning, and go to work every day? And pay bills?

But just tell them about how you feel, and hopefully they'll hear you out....

    Good luck!

    =)

  6. yesh...it helps to improve ur social skills.

  7. i think they should let you it helps you develop social skills and if they dont like your current school look into a type of open enrollment to a different school

  8. I've been through public school my whole life, and I can honestly say it really just depends on what school district you're in, and the kind of people you hang around.

I had a friend who was homeschooled through 8th grade, when he decided that he wanted to attend public school. It is absolutly CRAZY how much he has changed.

You can tell he started hanging around the wrong croud, and the school he went to really wasn't the most secure. He basically changed from a well-behaved preachers kid to a misbehanving teenager.

Please, oh please, make sure you're making the right decision.  :) good luck.

  9. I think that homeschooling is great if you can handle the fluidity of the structure, or lack there of. I was homeschooled for three years in middle school. It was fine, i got to do a ton of things that most kids didint. My 8 year old sister is Homeschooled and shes in movies and commercials. The social scene is fun in highschool, but the important thing is college, once you get to college its like highschool NEVER happend. So really it doesnt matter if you went or not. If you are freaking out over things like prom or whatever, Just go to the local school prom. If its a major thing for youto want to go to public school, then tell your parents why, ask them their reasoning behind it. they might give you an answer, but what it all comes down to is their choice, they are your parents and they are looking out for whats best for you. You should do a homeschool report on all the school shootings that happen in public schools, maybe you wont want to go after you research that. lol . Good luck!

  10. I live with a fifteen year old who is really popular. friends show up and knock on the door, and most of the time he is unavailable because he is aready out with someone else.

Here is the thing: he hates public school. everything enjoyable about school is possible to do outside of it.

You are old enough to go to community college now through 'running start ' if you parents do not like public education at the secondary level you can go ahead and get your AA and diploma at the same time and enter your freshman year at a university as a junior..its quite common now, I did it.

You can join community co-rec sports leagues where guys and girls play together and it beats the heck out of strictly segretated sports in high school. there are plenty of places to take dance lessons, improve drama groups, open to the public.

People go to public schools because they have to, and it sounds like you just need to force yourself to get out of the house and make some friends.

  11. Of course they should let you. It's YOUR education and your choice. I went to an independent study school where I met with only a teacher once a week - I have 0 friends.

  12. No, they shouldn't let you unless you aren't learning what you need to know.  Why would you want to go to public school anyway, to be with friends?
