Im 16 and have major self esteem and image issues and always have & i want to get help but i dont know what ?

so say to my parents. im scared that they're going to think im crazy or something if i ask to see a psychologist. can someone please give me some ideas on what to say? i would be extremely great full

    and dont be afraid to talk to your parents they're probably more understanding than you think

    do more stuff naked it has potention to pick you up


  2. I am almost 18 and feel the same way. I believe it's a phase. And you really have no choice because you cannot look any different. God made you like that so deal with it. We all have to. No one makes you feel ugly or gives you bad self esteem... YOU DO.

    So if your smart and you comprehend what I am saying then you know what to do.

    if anything they'll definitely understand because they can probably sense ur feeling a little uncomfortable and they dont wanna ask u first b/c they dont want u 2 feel worse. and they're ur parents, they wont think ur crazy- ur their daughter

  5. i am the same way with my parents. i have had major self esteem issues for a few years now, but this is my second year in college and i decided to start talking to a psychologist at the university, which is covered by the student health care plan. i didn't tell my parents anything about it. they don't know.

  6. i had the same problem honestly phychologists just want your money and dont give a rats *** about you. just learn to be comfortable with yourself NO ONE can help you until you help youtself i prrromise. try doing more things naked and focus on song LYRICS when you listen and the SMELL of the weather, things like that. however bad you THINK you look is how othes will view you as well. strut your stuff and carry yourself like your the ****, and you will be :)

  7. well, self-esteem is something that *everyone* struggles with, no matter how self-assured they seem.  personally, i've found that the first step to feeling more confident about myself is learning to appear confident to others.  after all, people only know things about you if you tell them or show them directly.  so if you act confident, everyone will believe that you are, even if the process going on in your own head takes longer.

    but true self-esteem is definitely something that takes time and effort to develop.  if you feel that it would be helpful to see a counselor, you should go for it.  a therapist is only going to offer you constructive advice based on the problems that you identify, and it can be a very helpful process.  if you're worried about presenting the idea to your parents, you might explain that you feel confused or uncertain about your feelings, and that you feel a professional and licensed therapist might be able to help you look at them in an objective and productive way.  tons of people seek help through therapy, not just "crazy" ones.  it can be a very illuminating experience for anyone who wants to grow and find a healthy outlook.  entering therapy does not mean you're "crazy."  it just means you're interested in understanding your emotions on a deeper level, and this desire is admirable in anyone.  hopefully your parents will understand and support you.  good luck!

  8. well to be honest..i wuld never tell my parents if there was something up with me..ever tried tlaking to a school counselor.. there all about helping teens about that kinda stuff, but if u really dont think thats what u want then u can try maybe sayin something like this

    mom,dad, im really insecure about myself. im worried oneday it mite get to me so much that i wont be able to handle it anymore..i really wanna get help so i dont hurt anymore..
