  1. While I don't know how old you have to be to stay in a youth hostel in France, I believe your best bet would be to contact the "Fédération Unie des Auberges de Jeunesse" (United Federation of Youth Hostels) directly:

    Centre National FUAJ - F.F. / HI

    27 rue Pajol

    75018 Paris

    Tél. : 0033-1 44 89 87 27

    Fax : 0033-1 44 89 87 49

    E-mail : fuaj@fuaj.org

  2. My understanding is that the age of majority in France is 18. Someone younger than 18 therefore cannot enter into a contractual agreement.

Renting a hotel room is a form of contract.

While it might not be illegal for a hotel to rent you a room they would take the risk that you would not pay. damage the room and refuse responsibility, or otherwise cost them money.

The simplest thing would be to have a responsible adult contact whatever hotel you are planning on staying in and explain the situation to the manager. perhaps something could be worked out.

  3. you could always call the hotel and ask them
