  1. Let me know when you find out.. I'm in the same pickle.

  2. You're brave wanting to move here in the midst of a recession and collapsing real estate market. I'm sure there is some program to study abroad and you could come to America for college or perhaps even high school. Outside of that though I'm really not too sure how it works. And yes, College is a huge expense which will not be easy to pay for. If your parents aren't going to be handling it it will be difficult. You can take out loans but unless you nail a really great career out of college you'll be in debt for a really long time, so take a good path and research career markets that aren't flooded when the time comes.

What Phil1988 doesn't seem to realize is that a declining economy is not a great one to move into, and 10,000 a year when you don't have a workers visa and your parents arn't paying for your college is a lot of money. If you want to study abroad that's fine but if you want to move to a country entering an economical crisis as a young adult who may not have the proper funds backing you to see you through your trials and errors things will be very difficult for you. I don't mean to discourage you, but Phil isn't being realistic and obviously doesn't seem to understand how difficult it is to live on your own and to be in debt in an declining economy. Just don't want to see you stuck in any holes, and using Phil's "throw caution to the wind and eliminate logic" strategy is a good way to get you there.

  3. just like every other teenager whats the fascination with America

  4. hey i moved to america when i turned 18 to study..

You gotta basically first get accepted from a College/ Uni over there and bring back proof of that.

Then you will have to fill at a  " I17" visa application, which you can do on the u.s embassy website.

Once you do all of that you send it to the embassy they then get you a slot for a interview, which then you go there takes all day normally and you get asked few question etc.

Normally all they really care about is that your parents have enough money in their accounts so you be okay when you are there.

Cost wise its really expensive it really cost me more tham 5 thousand every semester or more.

For me the experiance was amazing well worth it. If you need any more help this was really brief sorry feel free to ask

  5. You are better off going to college in the UK. The only colleges worth going to in the US are extremely expensive and hard to get into, though they do offer a lot of scholarships which you may, however, not qualify for not being a US citizen.

If I were you I would do my undergraduate degree in the UK and then go on to do postgrad work in the US.

Studying in the US will not necessarily help you to immigrate, though it will give you an opportunity to become acquainted with the endless bureaucracy that stands in the way of Europeans immigrating to the US, and vice versa.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe there's a boyfriend issue here (?) Just guessing...

  6. Yes, it's extremely expensive. FAR more expensive than going to university here. Thousands of dollars per term.

Where in "America"? It's a huge country. Big city or rural, west coast or east? Cold north or hot south? Who are you going to live with? It's mighty lonely, as well as hard work, being on your own the whole time - and still more expensive having to fly transatlantic to come back to see family and friends.

You need to do some proper research. More than just watching some films and TV shows and thinking it looks cool.

  7. You need to get a visa. You can also go to school abroad over here for a few semesters if youd like. You need to send applications ASAP. The sooner the better. Do you have Sats over there ? You score can get you scholarships and almost guarantee a spot in the school if you have a high score. Some schools are expensive. You can find many schools that arent though. You can apply for financial aid. Depending on how much your income and your parents income is, financila aid can cover most of your costs including books. If financial aid doesnt cover everything you can always take out a loan and pay that back oncce youv'e graduated.

    Edit

Don't listen to the ones above. They said things like the only colleges that are worth going to are extremely expensive, bt they dont even know what you want to go to school for. Others said "You're brave wanting to move here in the midst of a recession and collapsing real estate market. What does that have to do with your education ?  DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. It doesnt matter how hard or expensive it is. If it is something you really want to do and you feel strongly about it, DO IT. It will all pay off in the end. The one below me sadid its expensive and she spends $5,000 a semester. Thats $10,000 a year. That is inexspensive. There are schools that you have to spend $30,000 a year for.
