  1. i think that the best thing to do would be to ASK THE AGENT.  we have no clue WHAT your parents have on their plan.

did you graduate?  drop out?  if you aren't in school, forget about the good student discount if you aren't in school.  with your age, your premiums are going to be high.

  2. Although not directly responsive to your question, the Answer is that it should not matter because State Farm is so bad in the handling of claims that it in essence is not even insurance.  I have been handling accident cases for almost 10 years.  In that time, every case involving State Farm was bitterly contested.  State Farm disclaimed on nearly every claim alleging either fraud in the procurement of the policy or claiming that the accident was staged, and therefore not covered.  Their papers are all the same:  the accident occurred within x months of either the procurement of the policy or its expiration and other claims were filed from other people residing at the same address (we are in NY, there could be 200 units in a building and they are disclaiming because other people in the building have filed claims under different policies).  Now they refuse to pay for medical bills without thorough investigations of the medical providers to determine whether the medical provider is fraudulently run by a lay person.

The last two State Farm insured's that came into my office were unable to find doctors willing to accept their no-fault coverage because doctors do not want to deal with the hastles of getting paid by SF.

So the answer to your question is:  who cares, drop State Farm and call Geico, Progressive, Travelers, Hartford, Liberty Mutual or anybody, but not State Farm.

  3. $500 a month.

I'm only kidding, but seriously, we have no idea what level you qualify at or what discounts you are eligible for - so, we have no idea how much it is going to be.  Also, you didn't even tell us your age, just that you are out of high school.  Call the agent and say - if I get my license, about how much will it be to be put on my parents policy?  They will be able to give you a quote.

As for the litigator - seriously - how is it that State Farm is so bad, yet still the number 1 car insurer in the nation?  State Farm is known for their FAIR claims services and excellent customer service.
