Contact your local or state fish and game department for information. Some states don't require a hunter safety course.

Check on your state DNR web site.  They usualy give you all the information about it. Gander mountain has classes.

check with your state's hunting laws. you might have to take a hunter's ed class.

Which State are you in?  Don't forget to visit a local gun club too. People are usually friendly and will be happy to guide you, regarding equipment and answer other questions you may have.

Check with your local fish and game and get on the list for a Hunters Education Course then start pricing you a good rifle to use on your quest I would also you familiarize yourself with the Game Laws and also the area you will be hunting.
