Im 17 1/2 years old and i just got my period?

I got my period last week. I am 17 years and 6 months old. Is it bad to get it so late?

If your worried talk to your doctor. I and most of my friends were 14. But i thik everyone is different. You got it and thats the important thing right. :)

i dont say bad but lucky!    some people get it later then others.. i would think its normal

No, girls body's are all different, and some women get periods when they are 8, some when they are 18. Its normal.

It's fine and not uncommon.

The bigger quesion is, at 17.5, have you had your first visit to an OB/GYN?  If not, you should discuss this with your parents.  You are at the age where you should be having a regular pap smear once a year and discussing other "female" related questions with someone other than your pediatrician.

No, it isn't bad to get it so late.  Some people do start their periods at an older age and some people start their periods very young.  Count yourself lucky- you probably wont start the menopause until after all your friends.  It's usually a genetic thing- periods.
