Im 17 and I have never sent a Text message in my life, Is this unusual?

Question

I mean considering I do love technology- I have MP3 players. Gaming handhelds, I love my PC.

But I have never once sent a text message nor do I have any desire to. To me the whole idea of texting is stupid, I do however have a cell phone but I rarely use it basically I only use it with family.

well neither have I just because of the fact that my parents bloked text messaging so i wont be allowed to.. it sucks real bad because my friends want to text me and they keep ringing up my phone in class... i begged my mom to get me text and all she said was "as long as your living under my roof you follow my rules" so i stayed quiet and gave up lol

Lets just say I'm 14 and I have sent 12000 texts already this month... and I went a week without my phone. :] so yeah. for your age it is.

I've sent a few, but that's it. It's not "normal", but it's a good choice. I'm the same way, too. I have technology like a laptop, iPod, and my own cellphone, but I never text.

second why be normal and to fit in i rather if i was in your shoes to be mysellf then to be normal and to do what people my age do

No it's not unusual. If it's not the way you communicate, then who cares? While there are some advantages to texting, it's really no big deal if you don't.

No it's not unusual. Everyone has there on way of communicating. I think text should only be use when someone needs to tell something they don't want no one else to hear or if they are some where, where they can't make a call.

good for you. I hate texting I think it is so lame, what ever happened to just picking up the phone and talking to someone? I do not send texts and I hate when I get them

LOL when you can call, that's cool, but im 22 and when my husband is working and i need to get ahold of him, or if i need to ask my mom a question, but am in a place where i dont have time to talk, like a social gathering where it would be rude to get on the phone i text. Technology is great, but the best thing about it is having to free will to use or not use it.

It's a little unusual for you to have never sent one, but not unusual at all for you to not like it. I'm the same way, i love technology but hardly ever use my phone. Seems vastly overrated to me. =]
