Can i be left home alone for the weekend, legally?

Yes.  In most areas of the U.S. there is no law stipulating the age a child needs to be to be left home alone.  Many people do not realize that.  It all depends on the child, their maturity level, and whether the parents can trust the child to be left alone for any period of time.  There are of course laws that will charge a parent with neglect if a 5 year old is left unattended for example.  At 17, you should be very capable of handling yourself left alone.

    That is totally up to your parents...to have friends over or not.  It's their house and you should (out of respect for them) ask for permission to have them over.  Make sure they know who is there and how long they can expect them to be there.
