  1. Just be sure you pay off the balance every month on time.  Then you won't be paying any interest charges and you'll be building great credit.

As for the right credit card for you, only you can answer that.  Look for a local credit union that you can join as they generally have the best interest rates and benefits for members.  You might also want to consider a secured credit card as they are easier to get and it will limit you from getting over your head in debt.

Look over any credit cards you consider for the fee schedule and be sure there is a grace period (time to pay off the balance before they start charging interest).  If you are going to pay off the card every month, you don't have to be concerned with interest charges.

    Good luck.

  2. Well, first off, the best way to *use* a credit card (and then I'll get to the best credit card to use):

    1. Find the college student rewards card that will pay you the most for your normal expenses (more on this below)

    2. Funnel most/all of your spending through your credit card(s) without max'ing them out

    3. Always pay your monthly balance in full

    That way you will:

    1. Build your credit quickly

    2. Avoid interest and fees

    3. Earn great rewards for your normal spending

You can use this rewards calculator to see which college student rewards credit card will pay you the most for your normal spending:

All of this assumes you're not going to carry a balance on your credit card (which, in general, you shouldn't because the interest rates are usually quite bad).

You'll definitely want to consider the Citi mtvU card for its 5% rewards at book stores, entertainment venues, and restaurants.

  3. I have a couple with Orchard Bank, they are with HSBC.  Get a very low limit one, and pay it off as fast as you can.  Credit cards are a necessary evil, unfortunately.  www.orchardbank.com

  4. You can get a NO credit credit card from First PREMIER Bank:

First PREMIER Bank, Centennial Gold MasterCard®/Visa, APR % 9.9%

First PREMIER Bank, Gold MasterCard®/VisaAPR 9.9%

First PREMIER Bank, Centennial MasterCard®/Visa 9.9%

Click the bad credit credit cards section in the site and you can apply online:

  5. Getting a credit card is a big responsibility. If you think you are up for this responsibility then you should consider getting one because it'll help your credit. I saw some good cards at the following site for people who have no credit history. Maybe it'll help you out. Remember to pay it in full if you want to stay out of debt and build good credit.

  6. if you are a student a lot of credit cards are offered to students at good rates for just this purpose.  do a google search and type in credit cards and you'll find what you need.    READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE APPLYING!    make sure you have a fixed rate and KNOW what your APR is!  make sure it does NOT have an annual fee.

  7. don knowww.

  8. you want a card with a fixed intrest rate. not a variable intrest rate. Fixed means it stays the same. Variable can change at any time. You also want to find one with the lowest apr. The best thing to do is go online and visit some of there sites. They will send you info on it. Remember fixed.
