  1. i'm 27 and i've got the clear on top and the metal on bottom.  be aware that the clear ones BREAK easily.  I don't mean break OFF your tooth, but can break into pieces.  The assistant broke one of my clear brackets and it set me back SIX weeks because they had to take my wire size down when they replaced it.  No one told me about that, but I still would've gotten the clear ones.  I was told the clear hurt worse when you're getting them removed.  Good luck, I hope you don't hate it as much as I do.

  2. maybe it's changed since i had braces 10 years ago, but i won't sugar coat it. it's awful. they tell you it'll stop hurting and you get used to it but i never did. i had constant headaches and sores from the metal. expect to be in a bad mood for at least a couple weeks afterwards and same for every time they have to tighten them. but at least you'll have pretty teeth!

  3. first theyll take a mould or impression, as its also known,  of your mouth

then after you rinse your mouth with water theyll start putting on the braces

first theyll put in this expander thing that is quite awkward...doesnt hurtbut its just awkward. itll stay in the whole time. its used ot keep your mouth open and your lips away from your teeth

then theyll put some glue on a tooth, plop on a bracket and use this special UV gun thing to set an harden the glue

if you get both top and bottom down tomorrow should take 2-3 hrs

if you wanna get your mind off what theyre doing keep it busy, for ex. recite the multiplication table. name all the states. or, ask if you can listen to music whiel they work. my dentist let me do this once!

after theyre all done, your ortho should give you a package of stuff used to care for your braces. theylll tell you what you should and cant eat, how to brush and floss and you can ask any questions then

i never had pain after i got my braces on...most people do though. so when you get home take a painkiller. the pain is a different type of pian, it just takes getting used to.

or, my ortho told me that after you get your braces worked on, eating/drinking something cold can help rpevent the pain adn severity of it. so this is a good excuse to run out and get a milkshake or some soft ice cream!!

otherwise, you will probably wanna stick to foods like:

    apple sauce

    pudding

    jello

    mac and cheese

    soup

    smoothies

    really soft pb &j sandwiches

canned meat sandwiches (you can try cutting off the crust!)

    oatmeal

    soft canned veggies

popsicles...youll have to try some other things out and see what works for you!

youll be fine, and just think  about the perfect teeth youll have at the end of it all!!
