  1. First of all don't worry, you are young and many people don't know for sure what they want to do in life right away. The thing to do is to try to find out what you are good at and/or interested in. Make a list e.g. you like working with people, you like doing things with your hands, you like to be outside (not in an office), you like routine (or not). When you have an idea in which direction this goes (e.g working outside with people) think of professions where you would do that and then find out what qualifications you need to do that job. An alternative would be to go to open days at Universities and colleges and go to the different departments and let them explain you what they do and what it's good for. Ask friends and parents how they made up their mind. You can also do testing to check where your talents are. And sometimes, even after you started something you were pretty sure about, you find out that it's not what you thought and you want out. Don't be afraid to switch (but don't do it before you are sure) - the worst thing is to work in a profession you don't like (even if you make a lot of money). Good luck.

  2. Do this:

    1) List everything you like to do, no matter how stupid it is.

    2) Research a career on what you like to do from the list you made.

    3) Find out what makes enough money that you can life on.

From that, you have a career.

  3. The answer is to STOP asking other people.  Only YOU can answer this one, so you need to spend some quality time with yourself thinking about what you enjoy doing, and what you want to learn about.  I reccomend the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.  So many people complain that they don't know what they want, and want someone else to answer that question for them.  Do yourself a favor, take one evening and read that book.  It may help you to decide what path to be on, or even that you don't WANT to go back to school.  If you are unwilling to spend some time being honest with yourself, and learning about your options, you will wind up just being a cog in a machine.  Invest some time in yourself.  The answers will become clear.

  4. go to a community college to start and take some general education courses. By the end of your first year, you should have a better idea what you might be interested in.

  5. look into pursuing a career in something that interests you... if you have a personal flair for hair or makeup, then something in cosmetology might be the right route.  if you enjoy sports, maybe look into sports medicine or working for a sports facility.

if you have the cash, look into general studies courses at community colleges, and take a variety of different course that peak your interest.  who knows, you might take a psychology course and be totally into it!

just remember that if you try something, and it doesn't work out you can always try something else.  there's some crazy stat out there that basically states that people on average change their carrer 3 times in their life, or something like that.

  6. The advice you're recieved about going to a community college and taking a variety of classes is good.  I also like the volunteer idea.

In addition you might want to look at the Occupational Outlook Handbook online...http://www.bls.gov/oco/

and the BLS Career Information "What do you like?" page...

    http://www.bls.gov/k12/

Every college has a counseling and career center.  Besides meeting with a counselor you can often take tests that will ask questions about yourself - likes/dislikes, strengths/weaknesses - and suggest career paths that might work out for you.

Check out the pages from Pasadena City College as an example...

  7. I think many people feel that way, no matter the age. You need to find out what you like. Go to college and take different subjects to see what you like. Also, volunteer or something to figure out what u like. Go out there and take action, experience and find out. Hope this helps in some little way. Good luck and don't forget be safe and happy.

  8. Just ask another 21 years old that life is going great.
