  1. I know many people who have left their wisdom teeth in.  However, an ortho would probably want them extracted because over time, they may move and push the rest of your teeth forward or out of place, and because they are so far back in the mouth, they are difficult to clean/care for.

In the end, it's your choice.

  2. most likley yes

  3. It all depends on whether you have room or not, over time they might start pushing some teeth, so you might have to get them extracted.

  4. i think it depends how they come in.  If they're fine u mite not have to get them out.  but a lot of peoples come in differently so they have to get them out.

  5. It depends.  Some people have the room for them in their mouth and they come in with little trouble and don't cause too much shifting around in the mouth.  These people are relatively few.  The rest typically get them taken out because they case problems.

If there is insufficient room in your mouth they can cause overcrowding of the teeth. If your teeth are well aligned, this can get messed up. (Mine were very nicely aligned and when the wisdoms came in caused my lower teeth to start buckling backwards).  They can partially emerge, get cavities which (being as they're under the surface still) can get really ugly and infected.  They can also become impacted and cause aching- and when they do come out a more painful extraction.

Most prefer to have them removed before they have a chance to cause those problems, but you can always opt to wait and see what they'll do. Maybe yours will be able to stay.  That is up to you.

I was 20 when mine came out.

  6. not unless they come in wrong [crooked] or cause you discomfort. Wisdom teeth can come in different for every person. Like mine came in this year and I'm 15. But trust me yours probably aren't going to have problems just because they're coming in later than your friends.

  7. If the wisdom teeth are asymptomatic (not causing any problems) there's no reason to take them out.  Taking them out (especially the bottom ones) has some risk to it, so I wouldn't have them taken out prophylactically (without a dental reason) if I were you.

  8. not unless they bother you

  9. It all depends on whether or not they're causing problems for you.  I had two of mine pulled because they grew in sideways, and were messing up my other teeth, but my husband, who is 30, still has his wisdom teeth.  His dentist said they're not causing any problems, so there's no reason to pull them.
