My daughter (the doctor has said she moves way tooo much but in a good way!) was moving alot last night and we could even feel her kicks with our hands and sometimes even see them faintly. The kicks were harder than ever is that normal at 23 weeks or should I already have begun to feel this?

Thanks ;)

  1. It seems to me that different people notice baby movements outside the stomach at different times.  It depends if the baby is their first, because some don't even recognize the movements as baby, and wouldn't check to see if they could feel movement from the outside.  It also depends on how the baby is positioned, the positioning of the mother, how sensitive the mother is to movement, and the mother's body type.  I felt movement on the inside at 14 weeks!  This is my first baby, and I wasn't convinced until at 16 weeks I felt it from the outside!  Because it's so early, I only feel it once a day or so from the outside, but it's definitely baby!  My husband has already felt it too!  As for averages, I think you usually start feeling the baby from the inside at 16-22 weeks (usually 18-22 for a first pregnancy).  One site said that your hubby will be able to feel movement from the outside about 2-4 weeks after you do, which was accurate for me.  Remember, every woman is different, and every baby is different!  I have heard of people saying that their first kicked hard so early, and they couldn't feel their second for an extra month!  Enjoy the feeling!  I can't get enough of it!

  2. When should I start to feel my baby move?

You probably won't feel your baby kick until sometime between 16 and 22 weeks, even though he started moving at 7 or 8 weeks and you may have already witnessed his acrobatics if you've had an ultrasound.

Veteran moms tend to notice those first subtle kicks — also known as "quickening" — earlier than first-time moms. (A woman who's been pregnant before can more easily distinguish her baby's kick from other belly rumblings, such as gas.)

Your build may also have something to do with when you'll be able to tell a left jab from a hunger pang. Thinner women tend to feel movement earlier and more often than women who carry more weight. What does it feel like?

Women have described the sensation as being like popcorn popping, a goldfish swimming around, or butterflies fluttering. You'll probably chalk up those first gentle taps or swishes in your belly to gas or hunger pains, but once you start feeling them more regularly, you'll recognize the difference. You're more likely to feel these early movements when you're sitting or lying quietly. How often should I feel movements?

At first the kicks you notice will be few and far between. In fact, you may feel several movements one day and then none the next. Although your baby is moving and kicking regularly, many of his jerks and jolts aren't yet strong enough for you to feel. But later in the second trimester, those reassuring kicks will become stronger and more regular.

If you're tempted to compare notes with other pregnant women, don't worry if your experience differs from that of your friends. Every baby has his own pattern of activity, and there's no correct one. As long as your baby's usual activity level doesn't change too much, chances are he's doing just fine.

  3. sure!!!

With my first it was around 24 weeks when You could really see them.

with my second WE have been able to see her going crazy since about 15 weeks!!

every baby is different and my daughter has been twice as active as my son.

  4. I am 23 wks also and I can feel my baby move outside that belly and I can also see it very clear I thought that this was to early because she is very active and her kicks are very strong but when I went in for my check-up the doc ensured me that everything was fine...

  5. Absolutely fiiine.

  6. try to ask the different doctor to check u up!

  7. Usually anywhere from 16-20 weeks. But everyone is different. If it is your first baby, you may not notice it as soon as someone that has had a baby before and knows what to expect. It could have felt like fluttering or gas bubbles at first and you just didn't realize it was the baby :)

  8. I was able to feel my first baby kicks from the outside of my tummy before 21 weeks along... but he got shy whenever I would try to have my husband feel them though!  I am now less than two weeks from my due date and let me tell you - the bigger the baby gets, the MORE the outside of your tummy will move when he/she is wiggling around in there!!  My baby is SUPER active, and my WHOLE TUMMY moves around when he wiggles - its very entertaining to watch!!  I actually took a video clip of him moving the other afternoon - here's what you have in store for you!
