im 38 weeks and im booked in to be induced in 2 days cause while being pregnant i have developed OCD and its h**l, i am the one who asked for the induction for my own mental health reasons but am worried about about it. has anyone else been induced at 38 weeks and what was it like? and also im worried if im doing the right thing or just doing it for my own personal reasons, cause all i want is a healthy baby. Also after the baby is born my OCD goes away, they say its a sensitivity to 1 of the pregnancy hormones, so i need to do it for my own sanity but it doesnt make me worry anyless, Any advice would help!!!!

  1. Honestly, you are probably doing the easiest thing for yourself, and your baby will of course be healthy at 38 weeks.

But, it would be even MORE beneficial for the baby if it stayed in there until term, forcing your body into labour when it isn't ready naturally can potentially end up worse than what it would have been in the first place.

  2. I am being induced at 37 weeks well tomorrow morning Sept 1 labour day how interesting.  Anyways they are inducing me because I haven't been able to walk with out falling now for 6 weeks since I went into preterm labour at 32 weeks love the bed rest.  I know how it feels your worried about the baby how it will effect them, and how you will deal with the process don't worry about it.  There are some risks with everything that we do especially during labour but your in a hospital if something should happen which is VERY RARE then they can take care of you. I also have Type B Strep so a regular vaginal birth can be complicated by this issue so they have to give me antibiotics during the delivery and of course i am getting an epidural because I am the biggest suck when it comes to pain.  And so I have been able to sit they have had me on and off pain killers, but my baby is fine.

Listen to your OB if they didn't think it was a good idea they would have discouraged you.  So try to think of it this way in two days your wee babe will be in your arms and all this self induced stress will be gone I am freaking out a little myself its the unknown that frightens people especially if you have never had one done before.

Ill post after I have my daughter and let you now how it goes, do the same and we'll compare notes for the second time around.

  3. Induction of labor at 38 th.week of pregnancy for several reasons is a routine procedure, nothing to be afraid of.

  4. You are making the right decision your baby will be perfectly fine. I had to have a ceaser and i freaked out at first but everything went fine.
