  1. Its called a foogy ball (sp?)  Its like this long tube with a little pill looking thing at the end that they place in your cervix and inflate it to a certain cm of  dilation.  Then the rest of the tube just sort of hangs out.  Don't freak out if you go to the bathroom and you're bleeding, its just the forceful expanding of your cervix so DONT worry haha, i freaked out when i wiped and saw blood.  The doctors assured me it was NORMAL haha.

They used this along with pitocin for my induction.  the inflated the ball to 4 cm, once you dilate to that certain cm they just pull it out.  Its uncomfortable but you'll be ok.  Then they let me dilate to 5cm, broke my water.  After that labor went so fast for me and i only pushed for 34 minutes and it was my first baby, i was surprised.

Dont worry, you'll be fine, its a little weird having this long tube hanging out of your v****a but by this time i'm sure you feel like you've lost all sense of modesty about that kind of thing.

    Good luck and god bless

  2. If you are thinking catheter? I have never heard of opening your cervix with one. Are you sure they aren't trying to get a urine sample?

  3. has they given you the medical reason for doing this? if not dont allow it

  4. It is a Catheter

They are going to use it start getting you dilated. I am surprised that they are starting this before you are 40 weeks, but I don't' know the medical reasons behind them doing it a bit early- there probably is a good one.

Don't worry- This is not uncommon.

    Congratulations!

  5. I have never heard of this...I've heard of them using pitocin, stripping membranes, and breaking your water...but never opening your cervix with a cathetor...
