This is my third pregnancy, and I have never had spotting before, so I was a little freaked out (okay, alot) The doctor did a vaginal ultrasound, which revealed a baby with a heartbeat of 114 bpm and then a pap smear. It is now Wednesday, and I am bleeding and passing clots that look like grape jelly. The bleeding is apparent mostly when I wipe, and does not collect in a panty liner. I also am having some back pain. The doctor said that my cervix looked tightly closed, but a bit irritated, and they also did an hcg blood test the first was at about 3,500 the second won't come back till tommorrow, but I am now freakin big time, what does everyone think is going on??

  1. I actually experienced this same issue with my third pregnancy. If you are experiencing back pain please go to the emergency room. Do not stand for ling periods of time. lay with your feet elevated. I actually found that that everything was normal just that I had a tilted uterus. This caused me to spot during the early stages of my pregnancy. Again, just go back to the ER and get it check out.... Praying for you!!!!!

  2. Hello.Any bleeding in pregnancy is a sign of a threatened miscarriage. If you are passing clots and in pain it is a threatened miscarriage.Sometimes a miscarriage is Nature's way of rejecting a baby that wasn't forming right or something and you should have faith that the best thing will happen.Nevertheless, take it easy and put your feet up.

  3. I met an ultrasound tech in the er when I went in for bleeding who said she bled the entire way through her two pregnancies, and her kids are fine.  However, most of the time, bleeding that early in the pregnancy is not a good sign.

  4. Okay first off try to calm down the more you stress the more you could actually miscarry.

Second most of the time when you have a vaginal ultrasound you are going to have some irritation I should i know i have had three and bleeding is sometimes normal.  As far as the clotting and the back pain you may have a vaginal infection as well from the irritation because vaginal infections can cause the mucus to be chunky and with blood involved ick its not a nice sight.  But If you are still concerned go to the emergency room and they will be able to tell you faster than your family Doc.  they can run all the tests you need and give you something to stop the pain and the bleeding I was in preterm labour at 32 weeks bleeding, pressure, and my contractions were 5 Min's apart so I know its scary but you need to take some deep breaths and go with your gut feeling waiting will just make things worse if you worry so go to the hospital and dont wait on it. get checked out again.

  5. this is a very fragile period of your pregnancy, try to rest as much as you can to avoid any trouble,if you keep bleeding more and have like a colic pain go to the hospital right a way don't wait for the results.

  6. That is scary - I just prayed for you.  Did you call the Dr. about the clots?  I think you should call them about the bleeding getting worse.  Hang in there - what should be will be, I know that doesn't help but ....

try to focus on what you know at this moment, you're pregnant, the baby had a strong heartbeat two days ago, they did a pap which might cause bleeding and you are following up on some new symptoms.  Don't worry about tomorrow, today has enough worries of its own.

  7. I passed a blood clot while i was going to the bathroom when i was 5 weeks pregnant, i went to the er and they told me it was a threatened misscarriage. they put me on bed rest for a week, and told me to take it easy. and everything has been fine since.

  8. I kinda had the same thing going on except my spotting is how I found out I was pregnant. This is my third as well. First if you are bleeding after the pap not much to worry about. My doctor did a pap as well and I was bleeding heavily. If you do not have the patience to wait til your next appointment ( which I think you should call ) Then go to the hospital. But keep ur cool. This may just be blood that you need to discharge. I had a period through my first pregnancies til I was around 12 weeks. Just stay calm and call the doc. And if you don't like his answer get a second opinion

  9. My friend had clumping when she was around 5 weeks she is now 15 weeks and she is fine but she had the spotting too.

  10. Cal your doctor and explain the symptoms. You might need to just layd own and relax for a little while- and try not to stress.... Sometimes it is breakthrough spotting or it could be that your uterus got irritated frm the vaginal exam since the doc said it was already  irritate it.... Call just so you can calm your fears.. Good luck :)

  11. This could be a normal thing such as Implantation Bleeding. If you received a vaginal ultrasound and they did not find anything out of the ordinary chances are you are perfectly fine.

I, too had bleeding at the 5 week mark and it turns out it was a Subchorionic Hemorrhage.

All you can do is wait for the tests to comeback. In the meantime, please stay off your feet and relax as much as possible. The more you are active and out of the bed the more you will bleed.

    Take care and good luck!

  12. That sounds like when I had my miscarriage. But is does not sound like you Dr was concerned about that. Maybe it is just a little irritation causing the bleeding. Its the clots you talk about that worry me. Maybe you should go back in asap or head to the ER just for peace of mind?

Good luck momma and try not to worry too much *Hug*

  13. is the blood dark red or bright red?! its importnat to no ??
