it really depends on your preference...

A lot of people use 7.5 width because it is easier to do flips and such. 8 inches is a bit harder but there is more balance. It's also based on how you feel on the board. Some people say it depends on how big your feet are...

get the size that is the most comfortable to you, most people use 7.5 - 7.8 width. if ur a beginner then a wider board may be better since it will provide more balance. if u can do some flip tricks then go with a smaller size it will flip easier and faster.

you can go stand on a few decks and see what size and shape you like. dont worry about the lenght it wont matter and there is very little differance between boards, most are 31-31.5 so ur not going to be able to tell the differance
