  1. NO... why do people thing that they are too big for these horses...you are tiny! you could probably ride a 13HH horse or smaller and not be too big for it.. I am 5'6 and ride a  14HH AQHA...

  2. You're fine. I'm 10.5 stone and 5'10", and last year I was competing a 14hh hackney x cob in 3'6" affiliated jumping. So I think you should be absolutely fine on your horse.

  3. I'm only 5'3" and the smallest horse I look normal on is 15 hands...  I weigh about 8 stone as well and I owned a mare who was 14.3 with her shoes on and I NEVER really thought about riding her!  I had one of my horsekids who was about 4'11" who rode her and they really looked like they belonged together.

Look around some more.  Best of luck.

  4. i dont know how much 8 stones is, but i am 5'9" 135lbs and my mother is 5'8" 125 and we both ride her 14.2hh (and really i think she is 14.1hh) paint.   so i would say it is a definate no you are just fine. some people just prefer very large horses. but it also does depend on what you are using the horse for. i rode a 14.3hh mare for many years!

  5. Goodness - NO!  You Skinny Minnie!

I once read somewhere that the rule of thumb is that a horse should not carry more than 20% of their body weight (including tack and rider).  So, a 1000 lb., uh excuse me, 71.5 stone horse could easily carry a 180 lb or 12.86 stone person, allowing 20 lbs or 1.5 stone for tack.

As for your height -- as long as your legs don't dangle more than a couple of inches under the belly, you're fine!

  6. no not at all!!!!

    im 9 1/2 stone

    and 5ft 5

and i ride a 14.2 welsh cob and im not too big for him

iv also rode a shetland pony before and he was fine. (belive it or not)

remember cobs are built for holding lots of weight and 8 stone is not a heavy so your horse should be fine

    hope this helps

  7. I think you should be fine.  If you are too big for her (I'm not saying you are) then you can lease her to a kid who is smaller who might want to ride horses!

  8. Just for laughs take the rocks out of your pockets and get on. LOL you should be fine little thing.

  9. Ya sorry but if it was like a Haflinger or something with strong feet I would say no but. I will take him! jk

  10. No i dont say so thoses horses can carry a lot and they are very musical.  I say that you are ok because  i ride a 14.3 paso and im 5'10.  I feel a little to big but i know im alright because their strong animals!!!!

  11. If its a COB and TB mix then i would think you would be fine but it depends on the age and build of the horse.  Have your vet check her out and make sure shes sound but otherwise I'm sure you're fine.
