Alaska is beautiful country.  It is also very big! Most of it is very remote and inaccessable.  It is very mountainous and lots of wildlife.  Lots of rain and snow.  Very cold in our winter - your summer.  Some landscape is tundra, no tree growth.  tends to be very expensive in summer as many people like to travel there to see the glaciers, animal life, scenery, etc.  It also can be warm in summer (on Pacific ocean and gets warm currents and warm weather).  Suggest to visit web site of city you are going to and look at the monthly weather information for the time you will be there.

Hope this helps - if you go, you should enjoy it.

I've spent some time in Australia (from Sydney north to the Great Barrier reef and really enjoyed it!)
