Hey! I need your help, (and also if you could answer my other question about the sims life stories that would be great) but Today is my last day of summer, and tomorrow I'm going to a new high school as a fresh men. Plus my dad is my only ride there. He has to drop me off an hour early and I have to wait after school for an hour and 45 minutes. What will I do to pass the time? And how do I make friends so that i'm not stuck eating lunch alone? Thanks so much for everyone who is helping!

  1. do you know any of your neighbors/classmates?

just be yourself, since its freshman year, there're probably other new kids

    or

while u are waiting,u cud just hav a talk wid them......

  3. I've had the same issue. When I started high school, I was going to a private school an hour away from my house. I got their earlier everyday, and my parents picked me up two hours after school.

Passing time won't be too difficult, especially since it's a new school. Get to know where everything is. Look for the library, cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, etc.

Also, you can plan out your daily routine. Begin from your homeroom and try to map out the most efficient ways to go from class to class. Don't forget to take into consideration: bathroom and water fountain locations, number of times you want to visit your locker, high and low traffic areas, and travel time.

If you don't want to do a lot of exploring, I recommend bringing a book or a magazine to school. If a teacher sees you reading, you'll make a good impression. Also, if another student has read/is reading the same book, or subscribes to the same magazine, you'll have something to talk about with them. JUST BE CAREFUL!!! Some people might see you as unapproachable, so don't do too much reading, especially not during class.

As the year progresses, consider some sports. You can either sign up for a team (you'll have after-school practices and games, which will allow you to meet new people and get some exercise) or you can show some school spirit and watch a few after-school games. Also, you could sign-up for a club (meet some people, and have something for college applications).

About the lunch thing: Try and get to know a good amount of people throughout the day. Even a few "Hi. My name is..." will help you since you can reintroduce yourself to those people around lunchtime. Also, I highly suggest talking to a lot of people in the class before lunch. When you find a group of people that seem okay and have lunch the next period, ask if you can sit and eat with them.

If all else fails, just go to the cafeteria, find a table with some people, and ask them if you can sit there. People tend to be a lot more open to new friends in the beginning of the year than around the middle and the end, so it's not too likely that anyone will say no.

Eventually, you'll be tight with the people you meet at lunch, and you can start going over their houses at the end of the day (another after-school alternative)

    Hope I could help!

  4. first of all, good luck in your new school and don't worry about it; you'll make friends in no time.

your dad is your only ride... there's no school bus system?

i'd say bring a book with you if you're going to have that much time on your hands before and after school. or a magazine or something to help you pass the time.

you can meet people easily, just find some people who look like people you'd want to be friends with, and introduce yourself, say you're new here, and you'd love to know what everyone around here does for fun. that's a great way to break the ice because it will let them see that you're friendly and like to have fun, and who doesn't want to meet someone like that. they'll let you know where some fun places are, and possibly even invite you to come along with them the next time they go out. introduce yourself in class, and if they talk to you tell them they seem cool and can you eat lunch with them? also you can ask what clubs and activites the school offers and get involved in ones that interest you... that will help you meet people, and look good on your college transcripts. just remain outgoing and friendly and people will respond well to you. have fun!
