    the there's the classic Robinson Cursoe by Daniel Defoe.

    More modern works on this theme include:

    The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger

    Into Thin Air by Jon Krakuer

    But if you like tales of survival with psychological/supernatural twists,try the classic, Journey to the Center of the Earth by HG Wells

    Current books along these lines include:
