  1. At 15 with no experience of racing . I have more chance of winning the lottery every week for the next 10 yrs using the same numbers.  You might be able to start racing. But Moto GP .    Forget it your wasting your time.

Edit .. leftfield360 the question is about MotoGP and he IS too old to start. The show as you put it has nothing to do with MotorX or superX. and we wer'nt being Discouraging we were being realistic.

  2. As Proc say, at 15, you will never get in mate. Sorry, thats the truth, watch the 125 races, not the MotoGP's, you will see the kids who winning races NOW are 15. Lads like Scott Reeding who won at Donnington.

If you want to know how he did it, read this :

If you are old enough to type the question, you are too old to start.

You need to racing [ anything ] mini-moto / go kart / off road dirt bikes, when you are about 5/6.

Be a club champion by 8.

Be signed up by a local main agent by 10.

Be in the MotoGP Academy in Spain by 12.

Be winning the Spanish Championship by 14.

Be racing full time for a factory team by 15.

Be racing for the World Championship by the time you are 16.

....................... or just be called be Bradley Smith, et al, as that is his last few years.

This takes over a decade to plan for, massive talent and parents who are willing to sell there home just to get you there ( ALA Smith, Hopkins, Reeding & Stoner, to name a few )

You want to know how to become a MotoGP racer? There's your answer.

  3. Well, you're a long way from that. First you would need to club race at the local/regional level http://www.roadracingworld.com/resources... find your organization here. Then choose a bike that fits in their rule structure, and start racing. You will have to pay for everything, they don't just hand out rides. If you're  good, maybe someone will give you some sponsor help, such as parts discounts, engine building discounts etc with you running their logos on their bikes. If you can whip everyone at local races, you go regional, get more exposure, still winning you go to the national level, getting more exposure and hopefully more support. If you can whip everyone at the national level you may be offered a ride in World super or maybe even motogp.

Edit: I have to agree a little with the supercross mom below. Just because someone didn't get the opportunity as a 5 year old doesn't mean they might not be a roadracing virtuoso. I have seen some guys hop on bikes and amaze me almost immediately, conversely I've seen guys that have ridden for ever with super low skill levels. But whatever your skills you have to start at the bottom and start racing paying all the expenses yourself. Good luck.

  4. As the others have said, what you are wanting will be basically impossible to achieve for you at the age you are.  That doesnt mean you cannot get a bike and race at a beginner level especially if you consider doing mx.  There are divisions for all ability in mx and while it would be also too late for you to turn into the next chad reed, you could have a lot of fun with it,

  5. i agree with proc and wiggy here. As for  racing MotoGP it is too late. BUT if you want to race bikes, around the US is about as far as you will get into the motorcycle racing world. If you just want to race bikes then ask the question again but ask like " how to get into motorcycle racing" or something like that. You will get better answers about other types of racing.

  6. Hi Nick,

I see you have received some interesting  (very discouraging) advice to your question...I am not sure I understand the motivation behind these post..I guess some people maybe have lost the enjoyment of the sport in pursuit of prestige.. what they are saying is true to a degree...a lot of the kids racing today started out riding when they are really young...but this doesn't mean that you can't start at 15 ....and starting young doesn't mean you will make the big show either.....I am around people who have made the show, who is at the show (one of which is mine) , and who is going to the show ...barring injuries...so ,I do have some knowledge of this sport ( ....of coarse ,this may not be enough to some of the posters on here)....

you ask for some suggestions and advice so I will give it to you gladly..... the first thing you need to do is find a bike...(maybe a good used one..until you see if you really want to race )....get one that fits your body size ..something you can touch the ground on when sitting on the seat and something you can pick up when you go down ... and since you never ridden before I might suggest going with a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke..simply because, for some ,the powerband in a 2 stroke can be a little tricky to master..

At the time you buy your bike you will want to invest in good protection...the helmet is the most important part of protection in my opinion.....do not buy a cheap helmet....get a helmet that is "dot" approved and "snell" rated .....they cost more but they are worth every penny and than some....chest protector, boots, goggles, gloves, and I strongly suggest a neck protector ,knee and shin guards...it is  amazing what kind of damage can be done to your knee when the handle bars come back and hits them..(first hand experience )......

next find a track close to you ...a lot of tracks offer riding schools every so often...if they are not having any ....they might be able to give you a name of someone that wouldn't mind teaching you how to ride for a fee ....if the track has open practices than go and start off easy..don't try and ride above your head ....that could get you hurt....keep to one side of the track..so the more experience riders can go around you...riding all over the place could get you run over ,landed on, etc...so stay to the side....

This is about all I can think of for now...just start off slow and easy...as you gain more experience your progression will be natural....if you start out trying to do things out of your experience range you can get hurt really easily....you have to walk before you run....and despite what some of the other posters have stated ..you can get enjoyment and fun out of this sport without being ranked or number 1.....that is why most people get into it in the first place is for the fun of it......

I wish you the best of luck!!!
