  1. You will get a certain number of "travel days" ... depends on where you are coming from, but usually for Hawaii it is only 1 or 2 days (because they expect you to fly there).  Other than that, you have to use charged leave to take care of anything else.

  2. you are given x number of days to travel from one location to the next.  anything over that is chargeable leave.  If you are single, the number of days authorized is very small.  if you are married,  maybe a few extra..but certainly no more than a week or so.  We only got nine days to get from Monterey to Ft Meade.  but also.. since they are providing the flights.. you may get even less time.

  3. Your leave time should be used to move your things and accomplish whatever else you need to do. You do not have to take your entire leave. You can inprocess at any time, as long as you report on or before your NLT date on your orders. Leave days will be adjusted accordingly when you inprocess.

  4. It matters....

What does your orders state?  TDY and RETURN -or- TDY ENROUTE?

If it says TDY and RETURN, then that would make sense, because you would be using that month to get all your HHGs in order, clearing and then taking leave.

If it says TDY ENROUTE, you might want to go back to Levy to the Officer Assignments section and have them adjust your report date if you've cleared your unit prior to attending OBC.

You need to go and see your DTS Manager for your unit in any event...

  5. Been a long time...but I seem to remember that you will have to use leave time to accomplish the things you mentioned.

  6. No.  You have so many days travel and proceed time.   You won't get much time for travel but there is a standard number of proceed days.  You will need permission to report early since you are going OCONUS but it shouldn't be an issue since you are going to Hawaii.
