i have to give a speech to the whole class about this random person selected from our class. our teacher let us list important things about that person. we cannot use note-cards or anything else like that. i am not very good at giving speeches to the class. i dont know why i got it when i didnt even sign up for it. what are so ways for me to get rid of being nervous in front of large group?

i have the same probs. Just think about it as a couple minutes in your whole life. Doesn't seem that important now does it? Also don't look at anyone in the eye just slightly above their heads!

Oh man, you are not the only one. Last week, when I was giving my introductory speech, I was so terrible. My hands were shaking and even my lips too. Then, next week I need to prepare for my first informative speech as well. I really don't know what to do, but yeah, I think the best way is to be well prepared before giving a speech. It will make you feel more confident in front of your audience. Use visual aids! Would be hepful... ^.^
I have to give speeches in school at least once a week, and they are up to fifteen minutes long, no notecards, so I share in your anxiety. But I am always less nervous when I am well prepared (obvious, right?) I practice in front of my mom, brother, friends and the mirror. I make sure that I pick an outfit I'm comfortable in and I try to look nice so I'm not worried about what I look like. I try to always have a visual, a poster, picture, whatever, so my hands don't shake, and if I stall or can't remember what to say, I can always just talk about what I'm holding.
Also, talk slowly. I speed up when I'm nervous so I have one of my friends in the class give me a thumbs down when I'm talking too fast, because sometimes it's hard to tell yourself.
Hope this helps :)
