Im Tryin to Reformat A Laptop?

my friends laptop got a serious virus and wont let him go on so i trued to reformat and when i hit enter on the blue screen " To Setup Windows Xp Press Enter Now" I get a mess sayin to harddrive was ditected make sure yu have a hard drive connected and onn and on??

i think his hard drive is gone

Try restoring the computer to the day  before the virus.

you probably need to repartition the drive delete the old partition and repartition it you can look up online how to do that
