Im Trying Something Crazy...help?

Alright then...so this might sound kinda stupid but my friend did it in a smaller version and I wanna see if I can do it to.My dad gave me his HUGE speaker box that he had in his truck for a sound system,u know the ones you buy at the sound system stores.Its a Pioneer if that helps...so i wanna see if their is a way to connect it to my ipod or my stereo so I can have some crazy soundsystem in my room.I know it can be done I just need ideas on how to do it.Thanks

  1. not worth the trouble

    you would need a radio to plug the ipod into with enough RMS (continuous) wattage (at the correct impedance- ohms) to power the speakers correctly

    (or you would need an amplifier (with the correct RMS wattage) that runs on AC as opposed to DC current


  2. once you buy the 120V to 12V adapter build teh system like a car audio system, but your gonna be looking at about $1200 easily for a somewhat system, you're better off buying a home theater system (including tv and DVD) and hooking your ipod up through the reciever's AUX input...

  3. You dont need any power supply unless you are also hooking up a car amp.Just hook it up to your stereo!If its not loud enough get a bigger home amplifier,stereo

  4. yes you can do it it is a waste but you can do it

    you will need a 110v to 12v adapter( you can find them at most electronic stores--like radioshack)

    now i don't know how you would run a amp you will have to tell the guy/girl what you are trying to do.
