  1. I think it is admirable that you are trying to make a difference. However I think that instead of raising money for your own charity, raise it for an already well-established, well known charity that has a good rating (allocates resources and money well, etc.). You can check on www.charitynavigator.org. These charities know what to do with the money and how to best put funds into action and change. People are more likely to give to a charity that they have heard of. Some of my favorite charities are kiva.org, The American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. If you're not familiar with Kiva, they send out microloans which help foreign small business owners (like in Africa, Asia) get off the ground and once they do they pay you back. I love this because you can keep on giving once you get the money back.

Nowadays, a problem in the charity community is that there are too many small organizations that support similar causes. I read Bill Clinton's book "Giving" and if I remember correctly he said that if all of these small organizations came together more would get done. But once again I applaud you for doing charity work and wanting to help others.

  2. Sounds good but I would donate things instead of money. Clothes, food, and hygiene products for the poor or help pay a doctor or med bill they can't. Animals: Donate food and bleach and blankets. Find stray cats and get them neutered and spayed. Throwing out garbage is good and maybe you can inform and educate people how much damage is done.

Any good difference helps. Good luck.
