  1. eat meat and train hard

  2. learn how to box at a boxing gym they will give you the best training. once you been training for long enough that you know how to throw your punches without making mistakes (not is sparing but at least just on the heavy bag) then you can do the following...

do 100 punches for each of the following with a one minute break in between. for number 5 left, right =1 and so on

    1.left jab

    2.right jab

    3.left cross

    4.right cross

5.left jab, right cross (count the two as one)

    6.right jab, left cross

    7.left cross, right jab

    8.right cross, left jab

as for a diet. you don't need to diet at all. healthy eating for boxing isn't about a diet its about a lifestyle. here are some tips on nutrition that you could try to follow. it will be dificult and you may not be able to follow it all the way so just use it as a guideline. don't eat any refined sugers (candy, ice cream, soda, etc) bread, pasta, pizza or grains (except for brown rice, beans, and oatmeal), eat only organicly raised chicken and only beaf on acasions, eat lots of fresh vegitables and some fruits. good luck

  3. Smitty was always brilliantly arrogant so I can understand being a little put off by him.  And I Am So Modest And I Weigh 230.  Oh My I Am Frightfully Frightful

  4. Look your only 13 years old, don't worry about a diet to much because it will be to hard for somebody your age. Your still growing so take it easy, now I don't know how tall or heavy you are but lets assume you are a little overweight.

At your age why don't you try this, it may be easier for you. Everything you currently eat? cut it in half, tell your mom/pops or whomever feeds you to give you half the portions that they normally do. Also stop drinking soda's Gatorades or any of these types of drinks. Try water with as many meals as possible & milk only for cereal in the morning. Don't eat after 7 p.m. so have a good meal before you go to the gym "dinner if possible" then nothing after you get back. Now when I say to eat only half of what you normally eat I don't mean that its o/k to eat half a donut or other junk foods, stay away from those if possible. Maybe a little once a week just to feed the cravings but if at all possible cut them out. Tell the person who does the shopping not to buy these things if possible.

This shouldn't be to hard but you will definitely drop some weight. Now this is again assuming that you are a little overweight. But again also remember don't stress to much on this, just work hard in the gym & enjoy this great sport. GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. Eat a lot of protein.

  6. join a gym and start sparring, sparring is the most important aspect coz it teaches u action-reaction dynamics.

  7. Boxing is not what you DO.  It's what you ARE.  Go to a local gym and hang out there more than you would hang with your friends.  Make it your second home.  You have to BREATHE IN the atmosphere.

It's a good idea to go with someone you can trust.  Dont become someone's punching bag early.  I can remember a kid coming into the gym.  He was only 13 like you but tall for his age.  An assistant trainer threw him in with a much more experienced boxer who was older but smaller.  He led the youngster to believe he had a chance because he was big.  The 17 year old beat the daylights out of him.

I can only hope that both assistant trainer and fighter are rotting in h**l for that.  They totally shattered the boy's confidence.  Some might say it would only make them stronger and more determined.  Maybe he was in the gym for the wrong reasons but I just don't see any good in beating on a totally inexperienced young boy.  I'll never forget that.  I wished I was better so I could kick the guy's *** for bragging about it.

Take your time and don't run on the pavement too much.  If it's available, run on a boardwalk or some type of turf that's softer than the cement sidewalk.  A bike trail would even be good.  Black top is better than cement.  Get GOOD running shoes.   That's one thing you can not afford to take short cuts with.

Spar as often as you can but, as I said,  learn gradually.  Don't allow anyone to use you as a punching bag.   Don't be afraid to take chances ONCE YOU LEARN THE BASICS.

Spar some more.   Spar people better than you.  It's the best way to learn.  Eat well but don't be fooled with any of those stupid no carb atkins diets.  Boxers and other sportsmen MUST have SOME carbs.

Listen to your trainer.  If he tells you to slap your mother you should at least consider it.   If you're Really serious you probably should stay away from the girls.   That is the hardest part.

    I wish you luck.
