the izzo matts or if you have a course with the mats you could ask them where they got their's from "artificial mats are fake grass like astroturf in football arenas"

Nobody cares what you shoot. I'm 14 and shoot in the 60's and you don't see my ego. Wait till I'm in the PGA. But just joking. I need that mat too.

I know this sounds funny, but the astroturf mat website is named www.drivingrangemats.com. They have two mats I would recommend; the ultra and mega. they are stand on mats that have two levels of turf, so you can hit down on the ball without the clubface skidding across the mat.

If you are working on your short game, I also recommend a new kind of practice ball. They are called almostGolf balls. They pretty much the best off-course safe ball out there. They have CO2 pressure inside so the pop just like a golf ball, but without the distance and danger. As a result, you can practice your shortgame in the backyard, park or schoolyard. I was referred to the balls when I bought Dave Pelz's new book, "Damage control' that talks about how to play difficult lies like uphill, side hill etc. Very good reading for any golfer. He talks about this ball alot because you really can't practice many difficult shots at a driving range. He recommends practicing at home or around a park or schoolyard with those new almost Golf balls.

this may not be a great answer but i have found just using the mats at a driving range as a chipping mat helped me. I set the ball down on the turf and chip at a target. Our closest range has flags every 50 yards
