  1. I would say if you haven't went to the doctor yet please go.

and to be honest I'm not all that sure never even herd of the disease. I'm not sure if i spelled that right either because I'm only my self 13.

but please take care of your eyes.

may god be with you.  [=

have hope julian, if that's your name

  2. Keratoconus is how you spell it.  Basically your cornea (clear, front part of your eye) bulges out more than it should (like a cone).  The hard contacts will help shape it more like a normal cornea, but I don't believe it will be a permanent change.  Sorry, I don't know too much about it, but I wanted to give you the right spelling.

    Here are some websites:

    http://www.cornea.org/study_keratoconus....

    http://www.nkcf.org/

And always check out wikipedia, too!

    Good luck.

  3. Hey there

I think the condition you mean is actually Keratoconus. (it is very different to cataract).

What it means is that instead of your cornea (the clear part of your eye) being round, it becomes more like a cone.

The good news is that you it won't blind you, but im not sure what you can do to decrease your chance of surgery. As in some people it can really progress and in others, glasses (not even hard contacts) are enough to give great vision.

My best advice would be to find an optometrist who specialises in treating keratoconus, and they can fit you with hard contact lenses and help you maintain a healthy cornea

Good luck, and don't stress, your dad has it and he is fine!

  4. I think you mean Cataract?

"Although cataracts have no scientifically proven prevention, it is sometimes said that wearing ultraviolet-protecting sunglasses may slow the development of cataracts.Regular intake of antioxidants (such as vitamin A, C and E) is theoretically helpful, but taking them as a supplement has been shown to have no benefit."

It CAN slowly progress to vision loss, but not necessarily blindness

The Wikipedia page has lots of information, though I'm not sure how much is worth knowing, if you have any questions I guess you could browse through it
