  1. do it !!!

  2. I'll assume that you're aware of all of the requirements for a Skilled Worker visa and have already checked your eligibility.

As Bricklayer is one of the trades on the Migrant Occupations in Demand List (MODL), if you have good experience as a bricklayer, you shouldn't have any problem at all qualifying for a Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175) so you won't need to find a job before coming here which will give you a lot more flexibility if you woit until you arrive. If you would be more comfortable having a job before you leave the UK, you should list your skills and qualifications on the Skills Matching Database:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/index.htm

And you should also check out our main job search websites:

    http://www.seek.com.au/

There's a lot of building all over Brisbane with the outer suburbs best for new housing and commercial construction in every area. Brisbane covers a wide geographical area and there are nice places to live in every direction. You would probably be best to approach it from the job point of view and look for housing once you know roughly where you'll be working. At that time, there are plenty of Brisbane Y!Answerers who will be happy to advise you as to places to look for and which ones to avoid.

    Good luck.
