  1. Yak Rider is correct. All persons holding passports which are issued by governments other than that of Japan, Malaysia or Singapore need a visa. If you are in Hong Kong and you cross the border into Mainland China (Shenzhen), you can be issued a 5 day visa which is technically only valid for the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone but there is nothing stopping you from traveling outside this area. It costs about HK$180 depending on the passport you are holding but it is not issued to Americans, and issued on-the-spot at the Lo Wu border crossing.

If you wish to stay longer, then visas are issued by the Chinese embassy/consulate. The embassy is located in Makati, along with all of the other embassies. I'm not sure about the price but China has the reputation as having one of the most expensive visa fees. I think it's around US$50 (about PHP 2000) but may also depend on the passport you hold.

If you are traveling to Hong Kong, then there are literally hundreds of places that issue visas for the mainland, and even better, persons holding Filipino passports don't need visas for stays in Hong Kong of up to 2 weeks ( I think).

  2. National PHILIPPINES (PH)
