  1. GIVE IT YOUR ALL IN PRACTICE AND SHOW HER THAT YOU DESERVE TO BE A STARTER AND IF YOU ARENT GETTING ALOT OF PLAYING TIME JUST TALK TO HER ABOUT DROPPING TO JV OR ASK HER WHY YOUR NOT GETTING ALOT OF PLAYING TIME

  2. Making the varsity team as a freshman is a good sign that you will eventually get more playing time and a chance to start.

When your playing time will increase will depend on two things within your control.  The first factor is what you do during practice.  Coaches want to see that players are working hard to get better.  They also want so see players who show that they have the fundamentals down pat during drills.  Finally, they want to see that you are learning the system that the team uses and will fit well into it.  Coaches are hesitant to give much playing time to freshman in the early part of the season because they don't know what they are getting.  It is up to you to use practice to show the coach that you can play a vital role on the team while not acting as if the team is all about you.

The second factor is what you do when you actually get time during the games.  The coach wants to know that you will neither be a weak link nor a destructive force.  If you are given the opportunity to serve, you must show that you are a good server.  If you are given the opportunity to set, you must show that you have been paying attention and now where your hitters prefer getting the set and that you are capable of putting the ball there.  Similar things apply if you are expected to function as a blocker or a hitter.

If you do well in practice and in games, your time will increase.  How much depends on the skills of those ahead of you.  If you have good seniors and juniors, you might have to settle for being an occassional sub during your first year, but you have have a chance to be part of a winning team.

  3. there's nothing you really can do. just take in the experience and get better. as u get older like junior and senior u'll get to play, and u'll be the best. they wnt u on tht team so they can use u wen u get older...to make u better. just cheer on ur team!

  4. you should be happy that you at a varsity leval if you make varsity every year you will probaly be geting a lot more playing time in the years to come

congrats on makeing varsity ur freshman year i with i was tht good!

  5. i was a freshman on the varsity volleyball team. dont sweat it. you;ll have your turn. just think of it this way you are good enough to make the VARSITY volleyball team. i didnt play much either. but even though i didnt look at me now. i am a sophmore and i am the VARSITY setter. the only one they have. so dont worry to much you;ll get your chance

  6. stay positive and work on your game eventually you will get your chance.DONT QUIT!

  7. talk to your coach. also, freshmans dont really get that much playing time if they are on varsity.

  8. There has got to be a reason for you not playing.  Is everyone else just as good/better than you?  If they are, you might want to go to jv, because you will be a "superstar" there, and get to play much more.  I know it sounds like your not good enough then, but do you want to be just a benchwarmer?  Talk to your coach about it, and see what he/she says.

  9. if i were you, i'd take this time for observation, take notice to what the team does & how they do it...for instance each girls form...what mistakes they make, etc. and use these to your advantage...for everything you notice somebody else doing wrong ( error or subconsciously ), you can make sure you do that right.  you're coach obviously see's a lot in you and most likely feels that you are skilled enough to play with this team..and that you are more advanced than jv.  if you were placed on jv, you would play at jv level...because your team is only as strong as the weakest link...this way, coach is trying to push you to play at a varsity level, don't let her down, and you WILL get play time...if not this year...defintely next year when the snrs grad. (you'll understand more when you're a senior and have to come to terms with it being you're last year with the team {tear}...

  10. not expect mcuh time-yes you must be good to make the team as a freshmen-but your just that. your not as expeirenced as the seniors and juniors that start. impress the coachs wen you play and in practice and youll see more and more time...but next year you should start.

  11. if you really feel that it is necessary, has the coach if you can drop drop so you can start every game

  12. It is possible you will get playing time, but I'm guessing that because you are a freshman, most coaches pick freshman on varsity for backups in case of injury, illness etc.  I would just keep practicing, make the coach see that you want to play.

Be there because you WANT to be.  Give it some time and if you catch your coach's eye than he/she might let you get some playing time.

I was on varsity soccer at my high school and I noticed that the coach selected certain freshman players on varsity specifically for backups or because they were just that good.  I'm not saying you aren't good, but you have to appeal to your coach that you're good enough to be on varsity.  Alot of other people would LOVE to be in your position, mainly because they want to be on varsity -- the team that gets to play & gain more experience.  So take advantage of what you have, practice hard, be determined & stay focused.
