  1. Car drivers can't see past you, therefore you are considered as taking up "their" space.

Of course everything they possess was delivered by magic, no transport involved, not even by me - white van man!.

  2. I am a HGV driver like yourself, and I think most people just don't understand just how difficult it can be to pilot a bloody big lorry through todays traffic, on roads that were not designed to cope with vehicles so big.I regularly have to drive to outlying farms, and get problems with people trying to get me to reverse along narrow wonding lanes. Not a huge problem, but as you well know, when you have a blind side bend of more than four degrees, you just cannot see! Also, because we have more wheels and bigger brakes, they think we can stop quicker! My pet hate are the no brainers who drive so close behind you just cannot see them. I have now put the 'If you can't see my mirrorsI can't see you' sticker on the rear doors of my trailer. Don't know how much good it does, but I feel better knowing it is there. I also have one stating I need a lot of room to swing for turns. As for people hating us, I don't mind, if it was not for people like us, there would be nothing in the shops, would there.

  3. I trust HGV drivers more than any other, apart from a very small minority they are the gentlemen of the roads. The only ones that frighten me are the foreign drivers in left hand drive units, always give them a wide berth.

  4. I'm a biker, i don't hate you.  We have a common enemy...

well that's unless you are driving and posting this at the same time, then i do hate you.

  5. They probably hate you because they can't bully you, intimidate you or jump in front of you safely without looking stupid or getting killed.

On the other hand, I LOVE YOU.....but I am an HGV driver myself.

PS: The Dutch drivers are superb and very safe.

  6. Because they are idiots. They think everything they have just magically appeared on the store shelves.

  7. I agree with the other answers, I tend to trust HGV and other professional drivers (except taxis) more than other road users, as you are dependent on your vehicle being in a safe condition and on keeping a clean license for your income.

I do like to give foreign HGVs a lot more space though, as they seem to be completely unaccountable to UK law.

  8. You are a bit paranoid, not everyone hates you.

Can i have the same brakes as you ?

How you can stop a fully laden HGV in 20 feet from 60 MPH beats me, its must be magic.

You do travel keeping a full braking distance between you and the vehicle in front, dont you ?

    good for you.

  9. I'm on two wheels & HGV (British) are fine, it's the foriegn HGVs and those pesky car drivers that are the issue!

  10. Just like all drivers, there are good and bad lorry drivers.

I don't like lorry drivers who tailgate - some will sit literally inches behind you in heavy moving traffic when you've nowhere to go and you are as entitled to be in the lane as they are. This is an attempt to bully you out of the way.

I don't like lorry drivers who take an eternity to overtake on a two lane dual carriageway without a care in the world about the traffic that is building behind them. Of course, it's not the overtaker who's to blame, it's the lorry who's being overtaken who refuses to back off the gas, even slightly for a second, to allow the other lorry to pass quickly. It's just selfish.

I don't like lorries who pull out in front of you without looking or caring that you've had to slam your brakes on to avoid them.

In other words, there are some appallingly bad lorry drivers. But I don't hate them generally - most lorry drivers are great and courteous.
