  1. Well 3.1 miles is not that long and would not be hard for you probably. But I know on my team, we are expected to be able to run 10 miles.

  2. 800 meters is considered middle distance, the beginning of middle distance.

Depending on your state cross country is either 2 or 3 miles, which is considered distance running, not long distance.

Whether  you can run cross country depends on your ability to run the race distance.

Many 800 runners are really long sprinters who can run 2 laps.

Some good 800 runners are middle distance runners who can run at a high percentage of maximum speed for 2 laps.

You should do the training for cross country even if you can not be an elite racer the training will help your strength for the 800.

  3. i don't know cause cross country is 2 miles.

  4. You will just have to give it a try.  Cross country is a lot of fun and i run cross country and my main event in track is the 800m and i never have even tried the 3200m in track so i think it is worth a try.

  5. 800 meters in not much considered long distance for cross country. Cross country runs probably runs 4800 meters a day. (4 miles) But joining the team, you will gradually work up to the high standards and compete in the 1-2.5 mile races.

I think you can easily do it, just don't give up and stay in it. It will definitly get you into great shape! Good Luck!

  6. depends what grade your in... middle school kids will run 3 miles at the most for cross country, high school kids will run 10 miles at the most.

i do cross country and i do the 800

  7. yeah an 800 is middle distance tops but running x-c won't hurt your 800 time

  8. It depends on how good shape your in. But im guessing that you will do fine.

  9. no you would not cross country is 3.1 miles the 800 is not distance

  10. 3.1 miles     800 is not long distance. it is barely medium distance

  11. whether you would be good at it or not is entirely based on if you have endurance for the event.  BUT cross country will greatly help your performance for the 800 (so ive heard...i am running it for the first time this year) as it builds up your endurance so that when track starts you will have great speed to match that endurance.

  12. 800 runners usually have good endurance...so yeah, you would do great in x-country.
